Its becoming more and more clear reading this and the Millers Mad forum that we (the fans) are starting to divide into two camps.
There are those that see that under the current management team employing the current tactics we are potentially in trouble and with the return of Moore in January only heading one way.
Then there are the:
"We're 6th FFS"
"7th? Id take that at the beginning of the season"
"8th, its just outside the play offs stop yer moaning"
Be interesting to see the comments from this second group should the first groups predictions come to light.
Fair observation Gaz. It's a strange one. I wasn't expecting us to finish in the top half this season so I should be content with where we are, but find myself a bit disgruntled. The reason I think is that the league is so tight that with Wigan to play followed by a couple of away games and given our appalling form it is difficult to see us picking up many points in the near future, and we could very well be 14th or thereabouts in mid-December and heading in the wrong direction. There was a sense a few weeks ago that we might not go up but would be top half and at least we were entertaining, but in the last few games not only have we struggled for results but we have been awful to watch. At the minute I am just thankful that we have some points in the bag and that the likes of Wimbledon and Gillingham - both of whom we have lost to recently - still have a fair amount of catching up to do. It seems clear that we are a way behind the top few in terms of quality. We beat Scunny but they opened us up at will at times and the rest up near the top that we have played have beaten us. Unless we get back to trying to play some decent football again it looks like the rest of the season might be full of scrappy games, plenty more away defeats and a 14th to 16th place or so finish which is all a bit disappointing after a reasonable start, but which probably reflects the reality of what we are at present.
i cannot see the current winless streak ending until warne changes his thinking.
when not if moore goes i just cannot see where the goals are going to come from blaster harris no ball cant get a start and hoofball isnt his style yates we dont play to his method of play
the fans are beginning to get disgruntled warne
at the moment we have crested a wave now we are going down the table
i dont want warne to lose his job but if he seems or is unable to change his tactics then time to go
but the spiv will be happy as longs as he keeps getting revenue

totally agree i was against warnes appointment from the off. but with early promising start i thought heyup maybe i was wrong then we hit the buffers at wimbledon and since then maybe i was right first time warne is out of his depth and been used as the cheap option by the spiv especially as he is on a rolling contract

I agree too...
I can only assume Warney was trying to fix our defensive problems, otherwise why change from playing football (when we were winning more than we lost) to Hoof Ball?
I hope he's learned. The team seemed much happier and playing within themselves when playing football - we were opening up defences - bring it back!!
Proctor will be a plus when he's back but not sure that will be soon enough , or even this season? If you look at the early games before he got injured he was linking up well with other strikers and creating as well as scoring.
I'd never pick Mattock in any team of mine, but Warney doesn't see what we see.. When Fisher went from right back we've looked a lot better there - but last season's issue on the left hand side is still as bad as last year. He can't seem to see it.
I've gone from being pleasantly surprised and enjoying watching and looking fwd to games, back to last season's feelings of worry and frustration.....
I think that this thread probably sums up what most fans are thinking (apart from the spiv thing which doesn't reflect what I or I am sure most people think of this Chairman who has done so much for our club). Most supporters didn't have huge expectations going into this season despite the mention of a top five budget, the jury was out as far as Warne was concerned and even those who were against his appointment were happy to give him a fair chance, and we started quite well. The away form and performances still needed work and the defence was still all over the place but at home we were entertaining and it was nice to see us winning a few games playing exciting football and scoring a few goals. Recent results and (more importantly) performances have got quite a few of us concerned that the bubble (such as it was) has burst and there are echoes of the same frailties that killed us last season. The free flowing football has gone missing and the confidence that Warne seemed to be rebuilding is in danger of evaporating. It needs sorting out quickly before it becomes a real slide.

Gaz - also be interesting to see the comments from the first group if their predictions don't come to light! Not that I am giving away which side of the divide I'm on of course!!
I always say there's lots of positives when losing 2-3 or 2-4 as opposed to 0-1 or 0-2.
People just wanna see 2 things, be entertained and see goals. I'm not concerned about where we are in the league, if that's where we'll finish I'm sure many will see that as stopping the rot. I am concerned with where this free flowing quick attacking football has gone - and almost overnight?
We don't look a threat anymore, we're easy to read and play against. Let's face it with the personnel we have we're always going to ship goals, I know Warney likes his clean sheets and 1-0 ers, but going for that is not going to work, neither will it do him any favours.
Come one Warney - get the DVD's out of the first 10 or so games of the season, and make comparative notes for the next 8, I'm sure you'll see the difference.

apologies for the spiv comment but i am so incensed by the way the club is been run, the 2nd hand car dealer promises made at the beginning of the season and to date the biggest transfer out of the top 5 budget was 75k for proctor ffs
yes tony has done a lot for the club . but like all shrewd businessmen , he is getting his money back for the investment in the stadium . so where are the profits made from the u17 internationals going
does warne have access to that revenue stream me thinks not IMO

Indeed it will Glenn and I sincerely hope it the second group that have the last laugh. Without as you say giving away my position in the divide I cant see it happening
I think we have to accept that we have a group of players(all of them) who are not top quality but at the same time are not the worst in the world-opinions may differ. We have to accept that they will win some/lose some .What I believe is irritating most people is how this is done.I do not blow my head at mistakes because all people in all walks of life make mistakes but I am sure I am not alone in wishing that we were treated to more "adventurous" football and less 40 yard "passes" to no-one in particular.I think that is just a dream though because the majority of football is defensive as opposed to open and attacking-unless that is you went to the U17 game the other night .

I think that is really fair comment.
I think as long as it is done in the right areas of the pitch, supporters will generally forgive and even applaud players being adventurous even if it doesn't always work. I know that the reason I will happily pay to watch other people play is to see them do things that I couldn't do.
At the moment our players look scared to even try and play. They are taking the safe options all the time. Nobody is making themselves available. Rather than have a second touch players are knocking everything down the field first time, often aimlessly. Noticeably the back four aren't even looking to get the ball off the keeper, and the midfield players are just looking to get on to second balls rather then try and find space to receive a pass. We are very static. We seem to just be looking to get it quickly into the other teams final third and win a knock down, free kick or corner and try to get it in the box from there.
It isn't making for good entertainment, and by the way it isn't getting us results either.

But as several on this thread make the point - we were getting results and playing in a way that opened up defences but have instead tried to defend - which we are not so good at with this set of players (or any in last 3 seasons in fact).
So the issue is - why can't he go back to the way we were playing and at least win some - we all fear with his current tactics, we are in for a rough 2nd half of the season and fear that horrible possibility of League 2. On our current form that is where we are heading.
"A downward spiral?! So we have hit a bit of bad form lost 2 home games to 1st and 2nd! I would class a downward spiral like the position leyton orient are in 2 relagations on the bounce and struggling to stay in the conference. Atleast we are around the mid table mark which im sure at the beginning of the season most fans had us down for finishing there."
Not my spelling, grammar or thoughts on our ongoing demise
no win in 6 league games isn't just 2 home games add to that the FA cup game to a league 2 side oh and the manner of the defeats and I think the pro-warne gang need to put more forward as an argument than slagging off the people that aren't fans of his
