warnes in game decision making is awful. difference between the two teams was the managers decisions. hurst put on an extra striker at 1-1 warnes subs were awful jch for f sake that game cried out for ball and frecks. williams was awful all game and taking off two defenders. he has no tactical skills at all.
Gotta say it was odd today - should have gone on front foot as soon as they went to 10 men and how some pillock voted Williams MOM I'll never know. We are also utterly one dimensional and Hursty worked that out and put a guy on Kiefer Moore that kept him out of the game. Long ball and more long ball. Oh and radio Sheffield should stoo patronising out fans that ring up to call for Warnes head - it's called praise or grumble not praise or get preached at.
Yeah he went for the three points but if you want someone to blame for todays defeat look no further than Semi Ajayi putting the ball out of play for a corner for no apparent reason when there was no one anywhere near him, the corner they scored the winner from.
Says it all Kimi. Our illustrious chairman may well have been influenced by a BIG sponsor to appoint Warne. But I know another sponsor who like me thinks Warne is clueless !
Len, sorry to upset you but clichés aside, Ajayi's stupid concession of a totally needless corner cost us a point....FACT
You can argue that said corner wasn't defended well blahdy blah but there should never have been a corner to defend...........opinions mate & I'm entitled to mine.
If your looking for someone to blame try Joe Newell , stopped and was appealing to the ref for a penalty and the shrews player ran past him before we gave away the corner .
Always play to the whistle is the rule of thumb I believe .
I know you get passionate Brad but you can't point the finger at one person for us not getting a point. Where does that end? Mattock let the cross come in before Ajayi mis-kicked. Newell stood appealing for handball before they broke to win the corner. Moore missed a penalty for goodness sake.
Ajayi made some errors today. He does seem error prone, and he is 24 now so not a kid anymore. Whether he has what it takes I don't really know. But he isn't the only one by a long chalk to be disappointing today and this season, so it would be unfair to single him out.
The last person I would point the finger at for today's defeat is Warne! For those who keep calling for a Plan B, he introduced it by bringing on JCH (which many have been clammering for) to play 442. He then introduced Plan C by taking off Wood and going 3 at the back, and replacing Williams who was having a stinker. Today's defeat was caused by:
a. A very astutely managed and energetic top of the table opposition.
b. Individual errors from various members of RUFC including Newell and Williams appalling crosses, Moore's tame penalty attempt, Semi's inexplicable clearance for a corner when it should have been over the stand for a throw, Mattock's inability to stop the cross coming in which led to Semi's mistake - plus many others.
Whoever would have been managing Rotherham today could not have stopped the contribution to our own downfall by our own players which is a great shame because I thought Shrewsbury were there for the taking today.
I can't countenance insulting the guy Glenn and it is rarely down to just one person when things go wrong, but I have to take issue with your suggestion that Warne tried Plans B and C. Sure, he changed the formation but the basic philosophy of trying to just batter our way to goal didn't change at all. Different personnel and formations, but totally one dimensional football. The pattern recently is that we play poor aimless football, fall behind, run out of ideas and in desperation toss further aimless balls into increasing numbers of forwards. Sorry to say it but you can't give credit for that. Choosing to bring JCH on to make a second big man up front instead of someone like Ball who can actually see a pass etc speaks volumes to me.
All our plans are based on lumping it to Moore - it's like we know he's going so let's get our money's worth in long balls. I think Vaulks & Potter are the same player so we just don't play football anymore we go across the back and then hoof it.
Warne's post match comments are very worrying. He thinks we didn't do much wrong and were unlucky not to snatch a point at home against a team that played with ten men for forty minutes. That suggests that we can expect more of the same. He said their keeper was excellent. Well he obviously made a good penalty save (comfortable once he had guessed the right side) and he also came and either gathered our long balls lumped or thrown in or punched them well clear so credit to him, but I seriously can't remember him making a save apart from the penalty. We played 40 minutes against 10 men and couldn't create a thing.
What Warne should be doing (I hope he is) is thinking about how Shrewsbury have managed to put together a strong, well organised, pacy, athletic side on a shoestring budget while we have now got a predictable, grim-to- watch side with a keystone cops defensive unit off the back of a a 'top five budget' (whatever that means).
We can't just bemoan our luck. Yesterday we were given a soft penalty and the the chance to play ten men for half a game and we still managed to lose. No wins in five league games, out of the cup to Crewe who are struggling in League Two, and generally speaking not good enough. This is Warne's first real test as a manager because this is his team now, and at the moment it is woeful.
I went to the game and to me Paul Warnes bubble has burst. He seems incapable of.making any sound tactical decisions!!!!! IMO
It was plain to see that the long ball tactic wasn't working.opposition have learned to mark Moore out of the game. So play 2 up front give him help.
Also so why the hell he didn't bring on ball when they was down to 10 men to stretch their defense and bring a different attacking element on beggars belief.
Ryan Williams had a bad match on any other day those crosses would have been in the box .
Warne if you want to succeed learn change the formation and tactics for the Wigan match and going forward. Why plan our tactics around a loanee
At the moment your game plan is like watching a only fools and horses repeat on gold We all know the script and punchlines. But the important thing is warne. is that only fools and horses are still worth watching. But what you and your Boss TONY TOP five BUDGET STEWART are showing is rapidly becoming more like the little and large show predicable and crap .
Remember this and tell tony that the fans paying their hard earned cash. although most of us haven't played football professionally. But the majority have watched football all their lives and not just the millers so have some football knowledge and know that the style you are playing is too predictable. I know you still learning but you aren't learning from your mistakes because at the moment sinking fast we haven't won now for 7 games. yes we are still 8 which is a miracle with our poor defending. swallow your pride and get a defensive coach in. Shrewsbury and Wigan are where they are becasue they have a coach for 3 parts of the pitch
GET IT SORTED WARNE AND TELL THAT SPIV TO GET THE CHEQUE BOOK OUT IN JANUARY
YOU NEED
1) DEFENSIVE COACH
2) LEFT BACK TO REPLACE MATTOCK
3) ATTACKING MIDFIELDER NOT A LOANEE OR PLAY ONE OF THE YOUNGSTERS WHO HAVE NO FEAR
4) 2 STRIKERS 1 TO REPLACE MOORE AND SO WE DONT PLAY BLASTER HARRIS

I don't get why we have abondoned the early season 'play football' tactics and started playing hoof ball?
I aslo think emmanuel (on right) and Purrignton (on left) was our best full back combo... but he insists playing Mattock. I don't know the stats but over this season and last , I'd like to bet we lose less when Mattock doesn't play.
Reading Warne's post match comments again, he summarises that the players didn't deserve defeat. I hope that isn't what he has told the players, because he couldn't be more wrong. Even in League One, if you make stupid mistakes you get punished. Missing a penalty, ball watching for the first goal, letting ten men have a two on two break at you from your own corner in injury time, giving a needless corner away and then failing to clear it. All avoidable errors. Nothing to do with Shrewsbury being good or not. We were given a 50/50 penalty and forty minutes against ten men after a debatable red card, and fluffed our lines. We did have more possession, corners, efforts at goal (if you count hitting the corner flag) etc than them as Warne says, but we didn't create anything and were generally quite poor. Their keeper claimed our hoofed balls well but had very little to do save wise. We got exactly what we deserved. I hope he doesn't actually believe we were unlucky because he needs to see that we weren't good enough and haven't been good enough for a while. This wasn't a one-off. It needs sorting.
“Bally is a really good footballer who can have it in tight areas. I just don’t think, when he plays, the lads give him the ball enough. We’ve been working on, if we do play with a ‘10’, how to get the ball to him and how to trust him"

Here are some more quotes from a Star interview, the mind boggles !!
While Warne acknowledges he re-assesses personnel and tactics after every defeat, he says the recent lack of wins doesn't necessarily current methods are wrong
"We don't want to change everything we're doing because I don't think we're too far away,"
