Having a good run and banging a good fews goals in does tend to give the impression that we could conceivably get promotion. Even I start to believe it, the old cynic that I am. But then in 3 games (Lost Drawn Lost) shipped 9 goals and earned 1 point from a possible 9 ? Two of those games we should have had at least some reward but get tonked by teams from the bottom 4. Yesterdays performance was like a continuation of the debacle of last season.
Nah. Back down to earth. Add to the mix the fact that our better players are either on loan to us, or injured and out for long periods, then the reality really hits home. Its also my opinion that from the clubs point of view, promotion this year would be most unwelcome and to be avoided. A down turn in form was expected and thus another season in Div 1 is clearly on the cards
I dont think we have a good enough squad to go up, We seem to let in poor goals, 9 in the last 3 games is not good at all, I cant understand how a simple cross cant be defended, For me our spine isnt great, Hopefully warne has his eye on a couple of players in jan and also next year, i still think we need a keeper, centre back and centre mid,
"Welcome back " TTB, I should have known you'd crawl out from under your stone the first time we lose a game we were expected to win. I'm also uncomfortable with you using the word "we" when talking about RUFC, you Sir are no Millers fan.
For the record, apart from an over optimistic few most Millers fans are of the opinion that our present squad is nowhere near good enough to challenge for promotion & a good top half finish would be seen by most as a good season. The better equipped promotion winning teams tend to be put together over a decent amount of time.
Here Here Brad - we are superstars one week, and pants the next - thats life in Lg1, consistency is what gets you up - look at Shrewsbury and Wigan.
And we are not consititent enough, but i am enjying life in LG1 again, we are where i thought we would be albeit a little bit higher, but again results went for us and we didn't drop out of the top 6.
Roll On Saturday at Crewe, great chippy across the road, and only £10 !!!
Spot on Brad. We have already lost too many games to,pro rata , achieve automatic promotion. And unfortunately Tony Stewart just doesn't have the finance or I fear the inclination to afford Championship football which rather deflates the whole scenario.
