They both send you to sleep. If an English player scores a goal for a Greed League U23 team in the Checkatrade Trophy he'll be in Southgates next squad!!

If Rotherham played like England, I'd stay at home!

I feel sorry for Southgate. He hasn't got a single world class player in his squad. He has quite a few who think they have made it because of the stardom and money they get for being Premier League players, but when we have to break down a team of well organised honest journeymen we haven't got the flair or guile to do it. Yet he is expected to deliver a team capable of winning a World Cup or at least getting to the semis. He will like others before him get the sack for failing to make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

If we are serious about having a strong national side it is time to impose a limit on how many foreign players the PL clubs can play. We consistently do well at younger age groups but the players involved don't come through. They have no room to grow. Until we change that, we have no right to expect that the senior side will ever be better than average.

I know people who say "I'm on England duty." When they go to watch England.

I'd not go if I thought it was a duty.

Watching England is the cure for insomnia.

It has been for 30 years, since around the time Robson became manager, maybe even before. Anyone remember this….ball rolled out from keeper to full back. Two or 3 steps forward, square to centre half. Passed out to left back, tentative short pass to midfield, but then immediately back to centre half who rolled back to keeper, zzzzzz)

There was a brief moment when Venables was in charge when it looked like we may be getting the spark back, but it didn't last long. Anyway thats about the time I stopped watching the National team/game.

Butch Wilkins - can't recall him ever moving the ball forward whilst wearing an England shirt!

Thats right, with glamour boy Mariner prancing about more concerned about how his shirt looked over his shorts.
