Another 5 Star performance

Oldham tried, but we just kept going and going and going, and totally ground Oldham down in the end.

We shouldn't take any credit away from the lads, (ie in the same that Sarfend were just utter bab), Oldham actually made a fight of it.  We were just too good for them start to finish.

Ryan Williams, is fast becoming a favourite, he was immense today wasn't he? - quick feet, clever, twists & turns, finds pockets.

Could have had more if Frecks hadn't forgotten where the goal was.

But more pleasing than the goals, the individual performers - is the way we are playing.  The staff have really got it nailed into the players, how to play through the thirds - its soooo good to watch when we go at teams like that.

Keep it going!

Wow! How good is Joe Newell?

We need to get him signed up to a new contract ASAP!

Brilliant performances all around the park today. Standouts for me were Potter, Williams, Towell and Iheikwe. Newell looked like a different player when he came on - has he been in the gym?! Looks a lot stronger and when he runs at defences he is a real threat.

Wood had a torrid day against Craig Davies and I thought Ajayi might have come on for the second half to combat that threat. We still looked vulnerable from set pieces and they put some really good balls into the box - particularly from corners. Their goal was a well worked set piece from a corner which caught Vaulks napping. The only good corner we put into the box from Newell resulted in a goal for Moore.

Rotherham's patient build ups were fabulous - there were very few hoof balls from the back and the midfield tore Oldham apart, particularly in the second half. Had our delivery into the box been better (recall several from Taylor, plus Frecks and Williams) we could have been looking at another 4 goals at least.

Purrington is developing well and I think Warne should stick with him. Still not convinced with the keeper - a couple of crazy punches and a fumble from a tame shot were a bit worrying.

All in all, a great 90 minutes of entertaining football. Credit to Warne for whatever he said at half time because Oldham hardly got a look in second half. The team looks fit and hungry, there's great competition for places and the crowd are loving what they're seeing at NYS. Happy days.

Onwards and upwards!

Agree with all that Glenn.

90% positive from today. Slick football at times. Strength off the bench. Lots of goalmouth action. The midfield three were tremendous and a really good blend. Potter quietly effective, Towell growing all the time. Purrington I thought had his best game in a Millers shirt. Newell is looking like a great option in a central area. We also now look a very fit, strong side.

I hope the supporters will cut Williams some slack. He will try things and and sometimes they won't come off and can make him look a bit daft but he gives us a an x-factor and can make something from nothing. He needs to know he won't get stick when things don't go right for him.

A couple of things to work on. Like you Glenn I'm not sure about the new keeper. For a big lad he isn't very convincing on crosses and I wish he would catch a few more instead of palming or punching them away. Vaulks is very game but (and it isn't his fault) I just don't think he is a natural full back.

Woody did struggle at times today but I think Davies is a handful for anyone to be honest.

All in all a really good performance.

Newell's trickery before Forde's goal was something else - utterly unplayable. Once again Moore showed his skills in the air and on the deck. We have to try and sign him before some other *******s in this division drop half a million on Ipswich for him.

That's another concern NY, the better Moore does, the more likely it is Ipswich will want him back or some other club will come in for him.
I just love the way we are playing at the moment, there seems to be no pressure on the players which allows everyone to express themselves, the whole mid-field (who ever plays) are just a delight to watch, Williams, Potter, Frecks, Newell, Forde, Taylor, Vaulks, is there a stronger mid-field group in the league than these guys? I don't think so!

Not forgetting Towell as well Archie who has done really well since he came in, and also David Ball who could play in there too if needed.  It really is a strong group.  Sort out weaknesses in other areas (defensive plus support/cover for Moore), grind out some results away from home, and we might be on to something special to come.

I didn't think Towell was in the game against Oldham. Keeper & Wood both?
