Fans forum Thurs 28th September at NYS

Unfortunately for ST holders only so I won't be able to attend but there's only 300 spaces so I understand why they had to do it. Presumably some MB members will be there.

The question I would ask is how the club plan on addressing the perceived lack of business ac umen at the club regarding empty shop units, lack of 5/10 match tickets for non season ticket holders with occasional work commitments (me) etc etc

A good idea to keep supporters informed and involved. It is our club really, whoever owns it in name.

Nobody will get any answers about why certain managers left, what the agreed terms were for them or any players paid up etc. That will all be subject to legal confidentiality clauses.

My questions would be around the current and future plans for the stadium, units and G&C site. The revenue streams they can open up would be our only way to be anything like financially competitive in the Championship.

On a wider point, I would like Tony Stewart to spell out what mistakes he thinks we made that resulted in last seasons calamity, and what he would do differently if we managed to climb back up.

Given that so few can attend, I think they should produce a transcript or summary and put it on the o/s for all to see.

I know Mark Thomas (RUST chair and chairing the forum) quite well. He is a Miller to the core and a good guy. I have every confidence that he will conduct proceedings very fairly.

For those supporters unable to attend. Will it be streamed live on radio or via some other media?

Not going to get answers to the questions we all want answering, many raised by posters on hear. All questions have to be submitted prior to the event and will then be put to the participants. I would like to see "live" questions, put them on the spot

It's only fair to submit questions prior to the event. Having said that the event ought to be run along the lines of BBC Question

Time. There ought to be a chairperson and a number of panellists, TS, PW, PD and the Chief Scout/Recruitment Officer to name

but four.  Pre-selected members of the audience should each be given one question by the chair of the forum prior to the

beginning of the forum. The chair of the forum should then begin proceedings, that is to say, introduce the panellists. The chair

of the forum should then introduce the first questioner by name and ask them to put the first question to the panel. The chair

should then choose members of the panel in turn to answer that particular question. After the members of the panel have

spoken/answered the first question the chair of the forum should then ask members of the audience for their thoughts about

what they think about what they have heard from the panellists.

The chair of the forum should know when to move on to the second question, panellists respond and audience members invited

to provide some input. The latter is an opportunity to probe the panellists further/'put them on the spot'

Then same again for third,  fourth and fifth questions etcetera.

The Alternative Forum Format Agenda

Chair - TBC - Hope he or she stays strong.

Panellists - TBC - Will they hold firm if they come under verbal attack?

Audience - TBC - They'll come for the win but may struggle to get one point even though they make several good points. That's one hell of a contradiction.

Venue - TBC  - NYS. Where else?

Agenda - TBC - Let's hope it's not a hidden one.

Introductions - It's a must.  Who is the Recruitment Officer by the way?

List of questions - TBA - The questions will definitely be arranged to make it easier for the panellists to answer.

Free drinks vouchers - To be handed out on entry - This may not actually happen, but hey, it wouldn't go amiss.

Free food vouchers - To be handed out on entry - DITTO the above

Singalong with Tony and Friends - TBC - This may not happen.

The audience will just have to sing along to the RUFC tune. Remember, he who pays the piper calls the tune.

Forum is brought to a close or  after a heated argument breaks out,  whichever is the sooner.

Date of next forum - TBC - There may not be any future forums if it gets too uncomfortable and too heated at this one.

All questions & answers will be carefully picked & responses rehearsed beforehand. Alas I'm expecting nothing new to come out of it especially regarding the club's relationship with it's supporters which isn't good to put it mildly.

Exactly Brad it will all be very carefully stage managed so as to avoid the embarrassment of having to answer anything to sensitive crycrycry

I agree... something like.. we know you wont pay daft money for players but in recent seasons we seem to have lost out on player signings for very little, Moore is a great Asset to the club, have we approached Ipswich yet and if not why not. he could make the difference between promotion or not, which financially has to be a sound investment...

I'll be there, the club has put tickets on general sale. I just hope it all passes off peacefully & we get some concrete responces from the club who incidentally should be applauded for even hosting this forum so FFS behave if you're going.

My first question would be how tight is money if the club has to charge season ticket holders a few extra quid for the privilege of attending a forum? Can't the club stand £1000 to fund a few refreshments for loyal supporters who had to put up with that drivel last season?

Any questions for the Fans' Forum?

e-mails to media@rotherhamunited.net with title ‘Fans’ forum’ attached

The event will be chaired by head of the Rotherham United Supporters’ Trust Mark Thomas, who will also ask a number of questions sent in via email prior to the event. Any supporters wishing to submit questions of their own, should send them titled ‘Fans’ forum’ to media@rotherhamunited.net and we will endeavour to include as many as we can on the night.
There will be light refreshments on the night for those in attendance and there will be NO tickets available on the door, with sales concluding at 5pm on Thursday 28th September.

A thoroughly entertaining & enlightening evening which was appreciated by all those fans who attended. No-one who was there could fail to be impressed by our manager who wears his heart on his sleeve & realises that he is still learning & leans heavily on his staff but his genuine love for the club shone through like a beacon.
The revelation by TS that he is close to a breakthrough regarding the G&C site involving a trampolining/leisure centre & a hotel was good news.
Nothing really controversial questions wise part from one from the floor regarding Jackett's resignation. According to TS he received a phone call one particular Saturday night after another heavy defeat from Mr Jackett asking Tony if he was going to sack him. Tony reassured him & said that he (Jackett) had his backing but after a sleepless night KJ resigned the next morning. I think the hint there was that Jackett would have been far better off moneywise if he had been dismissed & virtually asked to be sacked, CV (with no relegation)intact.
PW mentioned that his group of players are a tight knit group of young hungry players in direct comparison with the journeymen mercenary players the club has put up within the Championship years & the club will benefit from the change of recruitment policy in the coming years.
Other questions were about retail units (got to be the right fit for the club & generate revenue outside of matchdays), general ticketing questions (possibility of 6/8 match tickets for non ST holders who work some Saturdays) the club will look at feasabiliy.
Talk of increased supporter involvement with the club etc

All this may seem to some as the club playing lip service to the fans but an old cynic as myself thought the panel were very very genuine, honest & working hard for OUR club & its future.

Thanks for the feedback Brad. If you were impressed, it really must have been a open and honest event!
