Moore banging the goals in, no chance of him staying beyond January, now he's the lone guy he will be far more busy with other aspects. It seems to be working as well, as other players especially little Jon Taylor (where are you now TTB?) are finding many more opportunities. Hoping Frecks can start to find those pockets he did last night too, I don't think he's finished quite yet!
Strikers don't win you leagues, many other players chipping in with the goals regularly do?
It's plain we have an abundance of attacking verve, which is great and the staff are really starting to get the best out of the group. Not over complicating, just saying look - that's what you can do - go out and do it - have some confidence.
Our downfall will be at the back, but that is not just us it's throughout football. Kids aren't brought up to defend anymore, it's not often you hear a player say I get a buzz from the tackle, getting in where it hurts and keeping clean sheets is what motivates me. Modern game eh?
I know what you mean Ex. I suspect if Proctor was fit and we were going to play one up front it would have been him. Sometimes one mans misfortune can be an opportunity for others, and the way that Moore has stepped up has been a real bonus and credit to him. With the strong mix of attacking midfielders on our books (any combination of Ball, Taylor, Williams, Frecks, Towell, Forde, Towell) the one up front seems to suit us. I also know what you mean about the defence, but there seems to be improvement there. Hopefully we will keep scoring more than we concede! My worry would be what we do if we lose Moore before January. JCH seems to not be ready to play (surely he would be on the bench if ready?) and without that target man to hold the ball up we would struggle.
I think its a bad thing. He played them both in the Southend game and at Peterborough (where we were unlucky to lose) and they would have been a formidable pairing I'm sure.
I'm hoping PW is looking for a similar player to bring in on loan.
