Proctor injury

Right leg planted moment of shoulder barge, jolts opposite direction - classic knee ligament damage.

I did 2 ligaments and broke collarbone 2+ years ago tripping over air on a through ball.  I know what he's got coming and it's not pretty.

Gonna be a long road back, extensive rehab and I don't care what anyone says, he won't be the same after ask Shaun Barker.

Good look lad, all the best - do your coaching badges

Looked pretty innocous at first but, the way Proctor immediately reacted you knew something was up, I really hope its not as bad as you think Ex.

There will be no news coming out yet as they can't MRI properly until the swelling goes down, I had to wait 2 weeks and even then they couldn't see properly the ACL in the middle, so they had a dig around to see what the crack with that was when they went in and 'plugged back in' the ligament on the outside of my knee.

If it is just ligament damage, he'll obviously have the best rehab care going and could get back to some percentage of where he was, it's if there is cartilage damage, and I suspect that might be the case due to the instant pain. Ok I was tripping on morphine and laughing gas but I don't remember the initial pain he had (I had no cartilage damage fortunately).

So easily done - I don't remember these knee injuries being so regularly occurring years ago? - I suppose its to do with the increase of pace and athleticism of the game.

Fingers crossed for the lad

Proctor was at Claremont hospital in sheffield today for his scan.

As Exeter said The swelling was to bad to get a proper result from the scan.
I was told this morning either today or tomorrow before they do another scan.

8 months is very optimistic. It takes 12 months for the grafted muscle to turn into ligament (apparently). Didn't that Bournemouth striker do it a couple of years back first couple of games of the season, when he'd been called up to England squad too?

There's going to be a lot of painstaking hard work ahead of him, and it is a battle of the mind too - although the fact he's on a few grand a week will be some crumb of comfort! - we struggled to get food on the table and take the kids to school - I even bought a mobility s****er for a while!

Ligament damage are THE worst injury for anybody.

Proc's if you're reading this. Get on Amazon and get a knee brace, the ones that you can put cold packs inside and have hand pumps on them - trust me - they'll be your best friend, you will be pining for it more than the pain killers to take the burning away. Also make sure you pack your leg into your bed, you will get violent leg kicks that will be that painful they'll jolt you awake. And that's a picnic, the first 6 weeks compared to the 6 months of hell physio

So looks like Procs is to have 2 operations, that means he's done 2 different ligaments?

Same as what I had, the worst part is getting over the first one knowing you've got the next one coming up and effectively you'll be starting again.

I fear we wont see him in a red & white shirt again, not at this level of football. While he will repair physically, it will affect his gait and while physio's can work to correct that it's always in your mind, the level of trust is gone, and as anyone knows you risk greater chance of injuring your 'good' knee further down the line not to mention the obligatory arthritis 15 years down the line.

Ligaments are cruel injuries indeed.
