I'd like to see us play our juniors and weakest side possible. why should we risk our first team squad for injuries, for this joke competition.? furiousfurious

It'll give Warne a chance to give other Millers' players a chance to prove themselves.

Each to their own of course but from a personal point of view I cannot support any competition whos aim is to get the greed league's academy teams into the football pyramid via the back door. The Premier League wants English football to be like the German system eg Bayern Munich B etc . #bteamboycott

The only problem is we will get fined if we play a understrenth team.

Crap i know as the under 23 teams are far from a full strength team!

He's probably one of those who wouldn't go to Don Valley because it was too far and the transport system was Crap getting to it!

Easy - vote with feet. It's actual purpose is to give 22 / 23 year olds competitive game time due the amount of over 21s that fall off the cliff and out of the game.

For me that is not the answer, the 72 FL clubs should not be a charity case for the PL.

We weren't complaining in 1996 but the rules have changed since then.

The answer is easy, but as yet subject to free EU movement - hopefully in 2 years the FA, having more clout legally to restrict non UK players to this country - we won't be having this conversation.

I'm not going - think it's a stupid idea and therefore would be an even more stupid idea to go. If we want shut of the concept we need to let them know by not turning up. Simple.

7.00 p.m. kick off might be too early for some.

On the eve of our first appearance in the revamped Trophy, I strongly urge all Millers fans not to attend & therefore support this frankly toxic competition.
The FA, EFL & the Premier League seem to have "bought" the votes of most clubs chairmen for the competition to continue. My only hope is that the majority of games pull in sub 1000 "crowds" as happened last season.

Soz Brad but I'm going. Only 4 first team players from Saturday required so it gives me a chance to see our fringe players against pace.

If you go you are promoting it, and shouldn't be surprised down the line when we are playing Crystal Palace U23 on a Saturday afternoon.

I must admit I'm disappointed in the 2209 Millers fans who chose to support this competition tonight.

Me too Brad - think it's the thin end of the wedge and if the FA think lower league fans are buying into it they will just extend it.

Can you imagine if Man city u23's and Chelsea u23's get to the final. The crowd would be pathetic at Wembley!
On the other hand it might be the best thing that could happen as it could be the death of the current format.

Well I enjoyed it and am not one bit bothered that I disappointed anyone by supporting my team.

It's not a question of supporting the team - we all do that - its a case of financially backing a competition that wants to relegate clubs like ours to being cannon fodder for the big clubs kids, and there's talk of letting them enter the league. Ridiculous to have the 1st division championship won by Liverpool U23.

That's a good point Slider, let's hope that happens and that it results in L1 and L2 clubs refusing to take part after this year...

And if/when the Premier League get their way, in a few years time when Fulham U21's is our next home league game, people like Heman can bask in the glory of helping facilitate it.
