Im not a moaner or one of these fans that shout for the Manager out,But with so many of our fans disgruntled from last season and after Saturdays defeat how long would you give Paul Warne to prove his Ability?
You have to think hard about this because you have 2 sides of the coin to look at.
Last season i was confident Stubbs would have turned it around and i said to most people to give him longer after the first 4 or so games but look at how that turned out.
The other side of the coin is this,My best mate is a Blade,Last season after 4 games they were bottom of the League and he was ready to commit suicide at that point saying same old garbage different face in charge.
Forward 5 months and he was eating his own words big style.
Put aside the situation when Warne took charge after Jacket walked out,Even Uncle Colin would have failed to keep us up at that stage and with the players at hand.
So looking at it as a fresh start how long would you give the man to prove himself?
You are right Slider man, and I have to admit to being a bit of a moaner, not because we lost, or were relegated, but this feeling I have, which I mention on another thread, that we've been sold the upbeat, resurgent RUFC this season and like you was looking forward to a fresh start; but the manner that we lost saturday was the same manner we lost last season.
I hope that in the 5 months that you mention, I can look back and feel embarrassed about the view I take and the cynicism I share with quite a few others. But I won't hold my breath.
It's not an exact science, but many clubs smaller than us with less resource do it better. So do I have any answers, can I put forward an alternative to what we have. No I don't, but in TS we trust eh.
At the risk of being shouted down, & I will be, PW is tactically clueless, a rabbit stuck in headlines full of platitudes & soundbites etc. I just hope he listens to Barker who HAS been a proper number 1 at a few clubs & allows him a significant input.
if warne thinks running up and down the pitch is a sign or a hard working player thats fine for runners unfortunately it also involves mean putting the ball into the goal or the box with our player on it to score . taylor cant do this yet
Not often me and Hilsborough Miller disagree ,but play Ford'e your having a laugh. Neither he nor Taylor have a good cross in them. The Wing pairing must be Newell and Williams.
I know Warne keeps mentioning this Rotherham type of player that he wants at the club,Some one who runs himself through brick walls etc, That was the side he was in when King Ronnie had his first stint and little or no transfer budget under Boothy.
We haven't always played that style of football through the years just his playing time under Ronnie,That worked then but its a different ball game now with clubs playing trendy type systems and zonal marking systems e.t.c,i can remember teams when we played proper football with 2 wingers like when Billy McEwen was in charge with Des hazel and John Buckley bombing down the wings and Bobby williamson waiting in the box to smash the ball in the net.
I hope he does turn things around but i don't think the chairman will give him time,Tony will pull the trigger on him if we are in the same position after 10 games thats what he does, then the rigmarole of the new era will start again.
And remember peeps, things could be worse, you could be a rotherham owl........(the lowest of the low)
Don't think so Len. After the way we (the board) have carried on with our previous what is it 6 managers we could not afford anyone with the ability willing to take the job on. So Warne(s) will still be here for the relegation battle to come
I stuck to my principles after last year and the clubs inability to deal with issues that a blind man could see and cancelled my season ticket.
But I saw us be far too good for Barnsley, albeit a friendly, and I saw and liked , a lot of the new signings.
Southend won't be easy, they only just lost out last year, and they beat Blackburn, so we might even lose that one too.
If he can keep the spirit up, play his best team rather than sticking with Taylor, Mattock... attack at home like we did against Barnsley, I find it hard to believe we haven't got it in us to win more than we lose. But equally, we don't want to get into a losing habit like last year.
So 10 games is my answer, we're only one game in.

Len and Brad.
Remind me how many times Barker has been sacked by other clubs ? You're probably right though. The cheap option for Mr Stewart will be to promote Barker when results decide Warne(s) isn't up to it.
Far too early to even think about sacking PW. I,like many other fans, I was sold on this idea of a fresh resurgent club after last season's debacle. It all looked great when we did so well in those warm up games. However, as it's proved once again, a 4 0 thumping of a Barnsley side on the slide didn't mean that much and Saturday's performance and result was so very disappointing.
Of course it's only the first game and Fleetwood might well prove one of the better sides in this division, we shall see. As for those frequently mentioned moaners, well I'm not surprised really as they have a right to complain. We must have one of the most loyal fan bases in the league. We haven't won away for some 15 months, yet there were queues outside the ticket office doors first day of sale of those Fleetwood tickets. Season ticket sales have held up well and despite those few groans after Saturday, that mood of optimism prevails for now at least. In my humble opinion, PW should be given at least ten games and then we will see exactly where we are. Last season we we're simply unable to compete in the monied world that is the Championship as Barnsley and Burton will find out this season. There can be no such excuses this time around as we are frequently told that we have one of the better budgets in League One.
At Fleetwood, did we underestimate the opposition or have we once again recruited poorly? Time will tell. I heard an interview with Ronnie Moore last week giving his thoughts on the Millers this time. He was of the opinion that the first two league games would tell us quite a lot as both Fleetwood and Southend were in the promotion mix last season. Defeat against lower league opposition coupled with losses at home to Southend and at Peterborough will have the knives out and sharpened once more for the management team. I think we need to stick with them for a bit longer no matter what happens in those early weeks.
It was his first game with a team made up of his players, in the main. Think we need to have a certain amount of patience. Somehow, we've just got to start winning a few games and very soon. Fans restlessness will increase if the losses keep on coming.

Ax,
Gotta agree with Len, it wasnt his first game, we have employed a manager with the worst record in RUFC history. A record which could have not been broken had said manager had an ounce of tactical nounce. Agreed last years squad was not his own and he has brought in some potential players closed season. BUT on day 1 of competitive football he reverts back to the same tactics and squad, bar the players which have left as we finished with last season. By this I refere to Taylor, Forde, Frecklington, Matock all pretty much a waste of time against Fleetwood but all fan favourites. Warne(s) says he has 2 starting 11's yet he cant pick the best 11 out of the 22. To cap it off WHEN we concede he has not a bloody clue what to do about it.
We get the same post match "the boys gave their all, we had more possession" followed by a slagging of HIS signed strikers.
No Paul Warne(s) and his supporting wise monkeys are only going to take this proud team one way and its not to Big Tone's mythical Premier League status.
