...says Tony Stewart. Also, we aren't aiming to be the best in League 1, we are aiming to be the best in The Championship.
The supporters on the whole love Mr Stewart. Most would, rightly, give him the freedom of the town and our eternal thanks. And it is no bad thing to have ambition. But I wonder whether he feels under pressure to feed us this kind of stuff through the media to keep us interested.
I would prefer to hear about realities instead of dreams. Maybe at the fans forum (is that happening?). The training ground, the retail units, the G&C site, the seemingly stalled stadium expansion, how we are planning to compete financially in The Championship (in due course) and transform ourselves from a relatively small club pulling 11,000 supporters average at the top end to a club that can finish above the likes of Villa, Norwich, Hull, Wednesday, Boro or whichever other fallen giants are in there if we get back. That is what I'd like to hear about.
Tony Stewart is a successful businessman and I'm not suggesting that he will do anything other than look after the club well. But if he is going to make bold claims about where he thinks we can get to, I would also like to hear from him how he thinks we are going to be able to do it. Otherwise supporters might get unrealistic expectations which can lead to discontent if the reality falls short.
The other thing he said in the same interview was that we won't repeat the mistakes of the last three years.

Agreed on all points smiler.
No-one doubts the positive part TS has in the history of our club. In fact if it wasn't for Tony we may well not have a club to support but please Tony ease upon the frankly daft soundbites.
The promised "fans forum" seems to be forgotten about, zero news about the badly needed infrastructure improvements, club officials with the business a***en of a corner shop (£13 for a piggin friendly) etc etc
That last line Smiler is pretty laughable from TS to be honest.
Yr 2 we shouldn't have repeated the mistakes of Y1, Y3 we shouldn't have.... you get the picture.
I also would like a pinch of realism. I'd like to win the lottery and dream what I'd do with the cash, but I'm sure those with a vested interest would like to know HOW I'm going to win it (buying a ticket would be a start!).
I've not a lot of faith atm, in fact I know right now, when we come up north every 6 weeks, if its a choice between Steelers & the millers I know what I'd choose (not that they clash often mind).
I'm glad if you enjoy the ice hockey Ex and each to their own but it isn't for me. We'd have to be much worse even than we were last season for me to even contemplate it as an alternative. But that's probably a different thread.
The comment about not repeating mistakes was pretty ironic in my eyes. It came in an interview in which the Chairman again raised the prospect of us getting into the Premier League. So in the very same interview he was, as far as I am concerned, repeating a previous mistake i.e bigging us up too much.
He would probably think I was being small minded, unambitious etc. I think I am being realistic. He is rich and I'm not so he is probably right!
Well we are certainly one of the "bigger" clubs in this league, so who knows, maybe we'll bounce straight back up to the Championship. Stranger things have happened, just ask any Leicester fan.
