Checkatrade Trophy 2017/18

I urge all Millers fans to boycott this toxic competition & given the clubs inability to charge less than £13 even for pre season kickabouts, boycotting makes economic sense too. I want to see a "crowd" of less than a thousand at our home games.

If this "experiment" is a success, we'll have Brighton & Newcastle U21's in League 2 in less than 5 years, as is the case in European leagues.

I'm hoping this

1. Brexit puts more barriers in front of clubs signing mediocre EU players that can just as easily be found in the UK
2. The FA actually have some balls to stand up the PL with the above? - what they gonna do move? - the FA will again be all powerful as it should be being the governing body
3. The FA have made huge strides in quality of provision of their coaching badges, if you don't believe me do the Level 1 & 2 badges
4. More quality coaches coming through from grass roots to academies
5. The FA recognising that talent initially comes from grassroots and is stolen by academies, therefore give us more funding, more quality pitches. If grassroots raise the bar, everything else does.
6. Bringing in rules that say at least 2 players must be U21 and from UK born heritage be in the starting 11, even for the PL
7. Make the reserves more competitive and organised and not an opt in
8. Add huge 'taxes' to clubs buying foreign players to make them a more expensive option than bringing your own through

There's loads of stuff. Sadly probably about 90% of that would need to be implemented to get rid of the farce that is the CheckaTrade trophy!

I for one won't be attending, the football calendar is already choc a bloc, don't really see what the point is of shoving Premier League sides u21s in the competition in the first place, is it to give some of their young uns a game because of all the foreigners taking their place in the first teams. I remember when we won this competition in 96 auto windscreens or whatever it was named then? It was meant to be a competition for leagues 1 & 2 to actually win a cup, for their supporters to have a day out at Wembley they wouldn't normally have, an FA Cup for the "poor relations" if you like.
This competition is not in any way like the one when it started out, so to conclude if that is what is called progress they can shove it!
