what's happening with Danny Ward?

is he still under contract?

have we sold him for a fee?

is he taking up a new deal with us?

If he leaves without a fee, I will not pay to see another game until the person responsible for not selling him in January is named and sacked...

The old 'undisclosed fee'. Very predictable. Can't help being a bit cynical about that.

On one view and in the cold light of day looking at it objectively, he is a slightly injury prone utility forward who had a good three to four months at the start of last season, and who only has one year left on his (newly extended) contract.

I am guessing that by hanging on to him until now and extending his contract, we have rid ourselves of the need to pass half of any fee on to Huddersfield. But at the same time he did very little of note after the transfer window closed, and clubs won't be panicked into paying as much in the Summer as they might have done in January. So it may be a case of swings and roundabouts as far as the net fee to us is concerned.

Good luck to Danny Ward, whether it be Cardiff or somewhere else he ends up. Just don't be fooled into thinking that the undisclosed fee will be enough to fuel a spending spree ready to boost us for next season. I would be very surprised if we were talking about more than £750K at the top end.

Hi Lads,

Just wondering if you're hearing any more on the Danny Ward deal? We're hearing that it's very close in South Wales. What are your views on the £1m fee? Seems a bit of a steal really, always looks like he causes trouble and knows how to finish.

How's our old friend Semi Ajeyi getting on with you? Surprised we let him go, would have given us good cover next season and he could have been 3rd choice with us

Well, I'm happy enough to get the £1M they talk about, except questions should be asked as to why we didn't sell in January for £2M, if that bid was ever real.

If we can get the lad from Fleetwood and he turns out to be as good or better, then it's good business.

and by the way, Neil Warnock looks after us in more ways than one over the years, top bloke IMO..

Hi Bluebird, When's he's on form he can finish and contribute well, on those days £1M is a steal, especially as we turned down £2M in January, which with hindsight I'm sure the club wish they'd taken instead of hoping by some miracle he could have helped to keep us up. He is prone to injury though, so that, and the fact that £1M is a lot of cash to our club, is why you got him for that sort of money I guess.

We wish him well with you guys and good luck next season, you have a good manager!

I think if we had sold him in January we would have had to pay half of any fee to Huddersfield, but now (because the initial contract period is over and we are into the one year extension) we don't.

Unfortunately he is six months nearer to the end of his contract, picked up a couple more injuries and lost his goal-scoring touch, so maybe the headline number is down.

I think in January we gambled on his form carrying on and his value holding up.

If it is £1m we are getting fair value in my opinion.

Danny Ward will pale into oblivion at Cardiff. He's one of those players you can't say exactly what he is. Maybe the better coaching staff at Cardiff recognise what they can make him into - I dunno. For us right now, it's not the end of the world.

I'm with Smiler, the extension might have removed the sell on clause, or probably. The cash isn't the issue, we've got no squad to speak of, just he does this & he does that. There is no identity, no sense of mid term thinking. It's all very meh and probably will be for another couple of years while Warney or A.N.Other sort it out
