You can't really argue with the decision to release who we have.

We can't afford to spend what for us is significant money on back up players. If Purrington isn't better than Mattock then he was a bad buy. Personally I would have moved on from Mattock. I think his game lacks energy - he sometimes knocks off defensively. He doesn't do it for me, although it is true that he has improved recently. He has the ability to do better.

Smallwood and Wood are in the same boat really. Both good, honest professionals with qualities. Not the worst thing to have them around and you know what you are getting, but both have limitations.

The tricky thing is going to be getting shut of a few players still under contract. Some of them have got to go, but moving them on might be tricky. It might cost us to buy a contract or two out.

I've seen somewhere that Belaid is one of the contracted players that can look elsewhere, now if Warne(s) thinks Wood is a better player I fear for our future in L1 nononono

I did hear there was a bust up between them gaz, so that may well be the answer. I don't like to hear about stuff like that. I don't care if a player is a lovely human being or a great guy, so long as they can do us a good job on the field and are not criminals. Be professional, have your differences but just get on with the job in hand, which is the betterment of Rotherham United.

Gaz if yd been to the games. Belaid is fragile. Wood is more solid. Broadfoot sounds like he's finished. Wood is our fit experienced central defender. Ajayi & Ball good ages, former looks a great signing. Later I was impressed with him when I saw him last season.

I have been to games T71, well up to the last few any ways and Wood is quite an appropriate name as he has the speed of a well rooted tree smilesmilesmile
