Just read the article and I'm not so cheery now. Why does he say PW has to be in with a shout - his 21 match record is dreadful, it really is and he's no answers. Obviously the big announcement post pigs match is to deflect all the flack after we get tonked at home by the *******s.
I've nothing against Paul Warne, but the fact that he has spent a few years at the club can't be enough can it? His record since taking over is awful (nine defeats in the last ten) but I won't hold that against him. He was thrown in at the deep end. My problem is that there isn't a single positive reason to appoint him. He has worked as a fitness coach. I'm not aware of him having any senior coaching experience and he hasn't planned or prepared for a career in management. Love him or hate him (and I never wanted him) Evans at least had some managerial experience to point to. Redfearn had a good reputation as a coach and developer of young players. Warnock - bags of experience. Stubbs had spent time coaching at Everton and had cut his teeth at Hibs. Jackett - like Warnock a lot or relevant experience. Although they didn't all work out you could at least see the reasoning in each case. Paul Warne? A great guy, but not one positive reason to give him the job. Unless TS feels he owes him for enduring the last three months. Or that he might be the cheap option. And neither of those reasons would be good enough.

Smiler your second to last sentence will be the overriding factor in Warne(s) appointment after the Wednesday game 😒😔😟
im more interested in what the manager who ever he is will have to spend in league 1
get ready for paul warne and he will have significant league 1 budget. the word significant will open to interpretation fans will want to mean one thing but will mean something else to the stewarts
Too true Hillsborough. The heart tells me that 'significant budget' could mean a push for the top end of L1, maybe even a play off place. But the head tells me its more of the same rhetoric. As the saying goes, actions speak louder than words.
Sorry guys, another pointless thread . It's Paul Warne,Tony decided it weeks ago. Why is he waiting three weeks to announce it? Just another attempt to keep the fans quiet. After all we are fast approaching the time when he puts the mask on and tries to rob us once again by asking us to renew our Season Tickets.
Whatever and whomever is appointed wont alter the fact that we have little money and very poor backroom set up.
It seems so messy at present and the talk of being patient and building something sustainable has been going on now for the last 4 seasons but where is the actual progress in terms of academy set ups and training facilities.
I think that TS might have confused the affection that all Millers have for Paul Warne as a man with enthusiasm for his potential appointment as manager. I don't know anyone who really blames him for where we find ourselves, but neither do I know a single fellow supporter who thinks he is the right man for the permanent job.
As for our budget/chances, we have very little real debt, we will have bigger attendances and (because we haven't broken ourselves trying to hang on in the Championship) a much bigger budget than most of our rivals in League One. If we have the right personnel in place there isn't a reason why we wouldn't do well next season. We need to break the terrible losing habit that we have developed. The first six or eight games will be absolutely vital.
But he's already showed that the best (only) quality he has as a football manager, is that he can get the players trying for him.
That's good, but it's not enough.
He has not demonstrated he can set a team up to defend (albeit we have rubbish defenders), he has made statements such as "we need to score more than 2 because we know we will concede", and we are a beaten team with no idea how to win, if he stays that will continue into next Season.
So in my opinion we MUST get a new manager in if we are to survive in League 1. I'm not focused on us doing well next season, I'd be very happy if we keep around mid table and show signs of improvement, for me that would be a successful season.
We've said all the rest many times on here the biggest issue is how the club is being run just now in football terms, **** poor budget for players, terrible contracts and handling of buying and selling players etc etc. so I'll sit back and wait to see what happens now - I hope we get a better season next time, but hope is all I have just now as I can't see any facts that point to improvement.
See you next season (or when we get a new manager/players), have a great spring/early summer guys.
I'm not big headed enough to think that I am always right Hillsborough. Yes me and the family still drink in the Prince of Wales before the home games. I need the drink to numb the pain I know that I am going to suffer after the kick off.

Top four budget smiler, like last time we were in League 1. That particular season Tony Stewart put in £1M of `give away ` cash to help the budget. The following season he put in £2M of ` give away ` cash. It`s how the budget is spent that is the important thing, if it`s wasted we will sink further.
If I`m wrong about the budget I will be back on here to admit I was wrong, alternatively if I`m right I expect some of you lot to come back on here and admit you were wrong.
Anyone`s guess what the squad will look like, some to go, some to stay, some to be signed permanently and some to come in on loan.

The bigger issue is one that towdlad raised a few months ago - what's the point in trying to wangle promotion next year when the year after we would be back in the same position. It's a resetting of our ambitions and aims as a club we need and then build on that - the "push for the prem" attitude has seemingly been dropped now and hopefully we are realistic about what we want and can be with this setup.
