I thought it noteworthy that WimbleDON beat MK last night 2-0
I dont have anything against MK personally but I would like to draw attention to the apparent lesson.
MK dons as we all know were illegitimately conceived and the support has been artificial during its development. This has led to incredible expectations and the appearance of a huge home to house its lonely child in. With no biological parents it has been the subject of bullying and in response tantrums. It has sought to legitimise itself by success and striven to over achieve.
Now, not only are MK Dons sinking in league terms but the omens are well embedded for a continued level of performance around L2-L1, and perhaps a slide into non-league football is not too far fetched following this rationale. The writing is on the wall.
MK Dons will never be anything more than it is. And, of course this tends to reflect historic trends
Unless there is a very unusual and powerful change History tends to march on with the same behaviours and outcomes repeating itself...and this brings me to RUFC.
In trying to understand the plight of our club and its recent trend busting performance and even greater hype I have had to dig deep and appeal to the vagaries of unrealistic thinking . And I think this is why a lot of the fans now feels embittered and even embarrassed.
The fans were not to know the facts unless the governance of the club is clearly revealed. And the situation of the club has not been. Instead we have been fed unrealistic ideas about wages, and investment and progress and academies and training grounds and lastly laughable an assault of the upper echelons of the championship.
I do think the board and TS bare responsibility for very far fetched uttering and to some extent are guilt of not doing their home work on the actual financial requirements of performing admirable at championship levels.
While I dont think Neil Warnock is always a very good example , I would point out his observation about the recent sacking of Wigans manager.
to paraphrase:
I was totally laughing my balls off when wigan (a very experienced club in terms of the last 2 decades) appointed thier last manager. Im not being funny or ought but he is so rubbish at this level I thought to myself ,'well, thats 2 relegations spots taken care off'.
NW , understands what it takes to perform at this level and can be fairly realisitc with his utterings about expectations.
Lamentably not RUFC and its current steering posse
