He has been poor this season but I suppose he'll be one of Warne(s) mates so it's highly likely he will be offered terms.

with our defensive record this season, and painful replays on telly of opposition going through us like we had no back 5, and especially down both wings, I'd have great difficulty renewing any defenders contract if it was me. Certianly cheap as chips offer, as back ups for the new players to replace them in the first team...

But it's not me, or us, so yes I agree he'll get a decent new contract I'd expect. If he gets injured between now and the end of the season, possibly he'll get a 5 year deal.

Joe Mattock is a very good player who would be a major asset in league 1 (where we may actually be able to hold onto the ball for more than 5 seconds!). He is still only 26 and coming into his peak years, football wise, why would you not want him here?
Unfortunately, any player mentioned at the moment will be hit with a load of negative comments as most posters on here and MM are majorly p!$$ed off and I can understand this from the real fans as they are hurting. Unfortunately, I also read the posts from the odd idiot from 6 miles away throwing in pathetic comments undermining the club, manager, owner, training ground, contracts and players at every opportunity, other posters do not seem to see this and jump on the band-wagon, I'm waiting for the next instalment of telling us how to make money this week-end from the Millers demise! They are just taking the P1$$, laughing at our predicament and naffing me off!

Sorry, mini rage over, back to the original subject : I agree his form has dipped but, you can say that about any of the players, especially the "footballers" of the team, which I class Joe as one. Anyone who has played at any level knows confidence is massive (sorry for the Owl's reference) in football, losing every week, being called all kinds of $h!!!!Te by some of you're own fans, must make it very tough to perform to anywhere near your best.

Those are really issues however.

confidence and Mattocks very poor season may not be just isolated to this season.

I dont think I would renew based on what I have seen. He is limited to a predictable extent and from what I remember and see at L1 I think we can do better.

I prefer a much more mobile and intelligent back than Mattock seems to be.
