New Manager Thread

So we all can see that Paul Warne or (Warnes) if your Tony Stewart is not a manager and was only ever going to be a stop gap man,He stated he didn't want the job full time at first when Jackett went but pressure from above has put him where he his today.

So lets have a few opinions on who we should go for and lets be realistic,People like Rowett are not going to be interested full stop, its either going to be somebody who needs to rebuild a reputation or a up coming manager from lower down.

I have heard a whisper from a journo that Jimmy Floyd Hasslebaink has been offering his services to the club for next season and like most doesn't want the word relegation upon his CV.

Whats your thoughts on this?

I would say that a few could get sacked from our division that would look at rebuilding their career lower down,I can see Alex Neil at Norwich getting the chop before long and he could be worth a try if he would drop down,He wasn't heard of in England before he got the job at Norwich and i doubt many championship clubs would go for him,Whispers in Norfolk are that Rowett is being lined up to replace him, which is ironic if true as rowett was very vocal about Brum when they spoke to Zola about the job he was in!

My choice would be Paul Hurst, hes cut his teeth with Grimsby and now at Shrewsbury,He loves the club and would slot in with Warne (Warnes) moving back to his day job.

Lets have Your Suggestions.

We already have our new manager in place, not because of his experience, draw, standing within football or tactical ability. No our new manager is in place because whomever he is compared with he will be "cheap"

What about Russell Slade? Plenty of good experience and connections to the area. He has suffered recently but Orient had a change of ownership and spiralled out of control so he can't be blamed for that, and he was on a complete hiding to nothing at Coventry who are also self-destructing from the top down. I thought the year that we beat them at Wembley Orient played some great football. I think he would be a pretty solid appointment.

Russel Slade was poor at Cardiff though. Mark McGhee has done well in England in the past and is out of work. I know I was derided but where is Pearson going to go at the moment - probably too rich for us still. If we are bargain basementing again then Steve Evans for me.

It's Gareth Ainsworth but why on earth are we not paying compensation to get him in now ?!!!

I can only hope the reason we do not have a manager yet is because it would be too difficult to get one before we go down as they wouldn't want that on their CV. Maybe when relegation is confirmed we may land someone, if TS is going to stick with Warne then that is madness and will lead to ruin.

Gareth Ainsworth signed a five and a half year contract at Wycombe back in January 2015 so compensation would be pretty high. I doubt it his him in our sights. He is a northern lad, Lancashire by all accounts so never say never.

Pearson is on record as saying he wouldn`t manage a local club. ( South Yorkshire area. ) could we afford him anyway  ?

I would have had Kevin Blackwell, he used to take training when NW was in charge here. Unfortunately NW is staying with Cardiff next season so I would expect Blackwell to do the same.

Russell Slade, a bit like marmite but he doesn`t stand any nonsense from player`s so that would be a good thing.

To be honest I don`t see anyone out there that stands out above the rest.

6 applicants on the last short-list none of whom were deemed stand-out Managers. Which seems to suggest they`re all run of the mill applicants that have been around the block or someone that`s trying to get into management for the first time. The club may be waiting till the end of the season, no doubt there will be other Managers looking for employment. It does need someone with some fresh ideas on the training pitch, after all our free kicks, corners and long throw ins are predictable and boring. If it`s not working then change it.

Sorry but this thread really is a waste of time. There will be no change and unfortunately Paul Warne will definitely be staying on as Manager. Same old same old all the way down to the 2nd Division. Get used to it because Tony Stewart has no intention of listening to anything other than the sound of his own voice.

Im not one to moan but i think keeping Warne will be a big mistake and will be the end of his connection with the club when it goes tits up next season,I hope Codger is wrong but who knows what the board are thinking.
The board are trying to pre-sign a few players for next season putting the idea to them which suggest it possibly could be Warne staying unless they have a man who's already telling them what to do for next season?

Easy requirement for me. An experienced league 1 manager that has had success with at least 2 clubs in league 1 and can work on an average budget. No falling stars or rising onestar a year of consolidation and top ten target

I am sure they will be many who would want the job. There are many managers who simply want a job. They have bills like anyone else.

Of course like the OP suggests, we will need to be looking at the best buys in ALDI.

Steve evans will not come back.
Forget pearson
I dont think slade is someone the club would go for

We missed many a boat with the likes of clough who has yet again gone on to prove himself a very capable and loyal servant .

The feeling that warne may well be offered the chalice longer term could turn out to be true. Most of us hope its not for his own as well as our sake.

There are so many potential names to throw in the ring and if it were me making the decision then Im sure I could make one. The reason I wont is because its just pie in the sky until you have interviewed someone. And thats what disappoints me about this whole sorry season, and indeed the stewardship of the current owners. They must have had 200 plus applicants over the last 18 months and they picked the dour stubbs and the turncoat Jakcett. However, with the state the club seems to be in behind the scenes there is significant doubt that any manager actually gets the support that TS claims they have always had.

When I look at his relationships with managers one word springs to mind and its not loyalty and its not support.

Ronnie-sacked unceremoniously
Andy scott-useless
Evans-sacked under a cloud of ill judgement and intrigue.
Redfern and Black-useless
Warnock-no thanks but allowed to keep us hanging on
Jacket-walked after 5 games
Warne- A fitness coach

Fairly damming evidence.

Step aside and let someone else recruit please.
