Message to Joe Cawthorn and Paul Davis about RUFC.

Hi Joe and Paul. Firstly, we appreciate your posts on here and information about all matters RUFC.

You must know the feelings of us fans from posts on here and from talking to us.

Us fans are hurting and angry and I wonder if the club appreciates that?

As you both are closer to the club and individuals at the club and Tony himself, could I please ask that you be brave enough to ask some questions of the club on behalf of us fans and post the answers on here. Below are 4 of mine, others may have more questions plus some of your own. I think we would all appreciate this if you could be our representatives in this matter please.

1)      Season after season, transfer window after transfer window, we never sign the target players the manager(s) are seeking. Other clubs, not all with budgets larger than ours or even as attractive as us are able to do so. Is it not time to replace many or all of those in the club who are clearly not able to negotiate and close deals?

2)      Does the club not think that purely looking at things in business terms it has failed to learn lessons in the last three seasons and take reasonable business risk to secure a decent manager and players and will now face a backlash from fans who are not likely to renew season tickets next year, which will, with the pending relegation to league 1, have a much more damaging impact on the business than it would by taking the small extra risk in securing the likes of Warnock as manager and providing sufficient budget for the current and past managers to secure their publically named transfer targets.

3)   Why did we not sell Danny Ward and who was responsible for not accepting the offer(s) received. What is the perceived business case around this decision?

4)   Does the club appreciate the anger and frustration of the fans at seeing the lost opportunity that being in the Championship presented. Does the club appreciate that this, as much as performances and pending relegation itself, is what makes us so dissapointed. We are life long Millers and we pay our entry fees and support the club, but we are hurting badly just now. With this in mind why should supporters come to games next season in league 1?

Cheers.

Not selling Danny Ward for the reported £2m+ could well be the most stupid exectutive decision in RUFC's recent history

I'd like to know what the (repeated) claims of premiership football were based upon, was this from a strategic plan of player investment or just rhetoric to sell more season tickets?

Also, what actions have been taken following the media's highlighting of our woeful training facilities?

What reasoning was behind the decision to keep PW as manager in spite of him publicly declaring no desire for the role?

Are we currently interviewing new managers? If so, how many?

Is any part of RUFC up for sale?

The Chief Exec, in admitting recently that the hierarchy had made mistakes this season, qualified his statement by saying that even if the club had got things 100% right we were always going to be up against it trying to stay up.

Tony Stewart has consistently said that we have a competitive budget and said at the start of the season that we were looking to be mid-table looking up.

Given that those two statements are totally at odds, which of the two of them was right and which was wrong?

Very good questions. There has got to be some kind of performance indicatator for those that negotitate the deals? - while I accept it's rife in football that probably a lot of teams might statistically not land 4 out of 5 targets, we seem to have a horrendous ability in doing so.

1. is our information gathering sufficient enough on each target, to allow us a stronger negotiating position?

2. do we catalogue each process to assess where each deal broke down to be able to address if these factors can be changed in future deals?

3. are other factors at play here - such as the elephant in the room - ie the players place of work - the horrible training ground?

It is difficult to compare to 20 years ago as we didn't have the media scrutiny chat fourms and the like, I remember just hearing on the radio Rotherham had signed such and such, allow us to act quietly under the radar. When we signed the likes of Tony Cunningham (at the time a coup), Nigel Gemson (I realise that couldn't be made perm), Alan Lee, Macintosh and others. The last wow signing we had was Kari Arnason, that is too long ago.

It is clear, and we've all known it chewed the fat of it, of the perceived wrongs within the club, and its about time we had some communication of what IS wrong and what they ARE doing to address those. NYS is gonna be a ghost town some time very soon - so very sad that it's all our doing

Id like to know how we go about our valuation of players/contracts

How can we ok a three year deal for Blackstock on good money yet dither and haggle with young and up and coming players such as Bogle and Willis from Coventry.

The season has been garbage from as far back as pre season. The worst carry on during my 57 years a Miller and there has been some rare old downers in that time. So I would like to know whether:-

1. What is the strategy for next season to correct the shambles of this.

2. Is there even a plan in place or is it a case of sing as we go.

3. Is there any prospect of further investment (from anywhere ?)

4. Is there a likelihood of the club being put up for sale

5. Does the Chairman intend to remain in his position ?

6. Do other board members intend to remain?

7. What, if anything is the board doing?

Nothing is guaranteed in football and we all knew we were liable to be at the lower end of the table, and most of us can accept relegation . However fans do now have a right to some answers as the performance of club on and off the field has been totally unacceptable and in many cases like the keystone cops.

Yes we have lots to be grateful for but what has happened over these last three years is unacceptable and the reputation of the club is now beyond a joke and if half the stories we hear have an element of truth than it can only be regarded as incompetence and a betrayal of the trust and loyalty of the fans which is quite disgraceful.

Good effort lads.

good questions.

My top ones :

1. How do you respond to the public criticism of our training facilities.

2. Warnock said no and Jackett said no, is this a coincidence?

3. If we have the couple of million we are told we can bid why havent we used it when we have been so desperate to invest and improve?

There is only one question really..... WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON TONY The fans deserve to no. I have been a miller for many years and remember the chants of " Purshouse Out, Purshouse Out" Due to the situation and humilliation of the club at that time. The fans in the end saw what happened. Please do not get us to the plight that the fans turn on you. You do not deserve it. But the fans needs answers to the false promises made when we reached the Championship. As a loyal follower it hurts to see us being the laughing stock all over the football merry go round. So please step up and give us the truth.

Only just seen this post, folks.

TS is usually happy to answer any question. I have never known him dodge one in the past, and he is generous with his time. I have requested an interview, as I routinely do. Takes a few days to set up. I will put fans' questions to him. Please be aware there is a limit, though. I can't go into his office with 500 of them! I'll arm myself with the main ones. Cheers
