Id much prefer us to spend that kind of cash on a derbyshire type-someone with actual experience. Who on earth has decided hes worth that much? ridiculous.

We can't afford anyone with experience and a track record in the Championship, unless they are so experienced that they are past their prime and/or have had injury problems. You are a great one for basing opinion on evidence Ian. Have a look at the evidence in the form of the forwards we have brought in during the last two years.
Best, Thomas, Blackstock, Becchio, Odemwingie - all thirty plus and all something of a gamble. Derbyshire hadn't been able to get a game at Forest and I think was 29 when we signed him. The very best you will get out of those players is a season or two of decent performances if you are lucky and they won't have a sell on value because they are on short deals and a certain age. So you are paying relatively high wages just to try and finish fourth from bottom every season, and every season you are back at square one and no better off.
We have had untried kids (Brown, G Ward, Lawrence, Barker etc) in with mixed results but there is no value in them for us even if they do well.
We haven't paid a significant fee for a single forward player have we? That is because we haven't signed a single player who is the right age to hold a value and who has a proven ability to score goals. That combination costs money that our rivals have and we don't.
We have punted small amounts on Bowery, Clarke-Harris and Danny Ward. They were all a bit risky. None had scored more than a handful of goals in their careers. Bowery didn't work out, JCH we'll see, Ward now looks like we will get a strong return on the investment.
Scouting a Winnall, an Andre Gray, a Scott Hogan, a Charlie Austin or (who knows) possibly an Omar Bogle is what we have to do if we want to grow and prosper.
