We battered them . The difference being a ****e goalie and a team of jigsaws . Plenty were guilty tonight ...fisher x2, ward, forde, newell, brown, all missed good chances . They are a poor team and will come down with us and wigan. (Qpr will just stay up - if they sack olly) I hope Campy gets back in the team soon and doesnt go to Cardiff. Price and his balloon feet and rubber hands isnt good enough.
Well that's that!!! The last ember of hope has been extinguished & we can use our remaining 22 games getting prepared for our 2017/18 L1 campaign which is vitally important as many relegated Championship clubs seem to fall through the L1 trapdoor very quickly, ask Doncaster!!
Tonight's 2-1 defeat by Burton Albion......effort..tick, commitment..tick, lots of possession & chances....tick, quality zilch.
It was an error by price but the defence were poor again tonight in general. The difference for me was both effort and focus and their manager.
It was a virtual replay of the away game in terms of set up. Granted we did a little better overall but Burton are easily the better team. I rue the aparent good chances we had to make him our manager rather than the poor chance we created tonight. Hardly got behind them and poor width again. Burton played on the front foot and squashed all the space. Meaning we played awful long diagnals with our back to the goal.
for my experience of 3 games it is clear we need two full backs and the defence seems vulnerable from set pieces. Adyeme despite the goal looked disinterested. Price was poor for the first goal but there second was excellent. I do think their is some talent in the team and another night we could have won the game thought they were worse than Wigan. Brown has clear ability and I am impressed with the central defenders. Plenty to work on but I think we will be fine next year, the players clearly want to play for Warne. Cant wait for the cup match, see how we face up to a div 1 team.
Smiler I agree with you. I thought switching newall in to the centre at half time was a great move by the manager, we had over 60% possession second half kept the ball on the floor and created numerous chances. Probably the most tactical we have changed in a game for years. Perhaps warne is management material after all. Remember these are Stubbs players who are now playing significantly better than 2-3 months ago. A win last night and people would be singing a different song but I thought we were slightly better. End of the day that was a div1 game.
