If we can start to learn how to break periods of defending using the right outlets, we won't have to defend so much. Good teams at any level will always have a period of having to defend. The good teams find ways to break it, and turn the game around, the not good teams have no way and end up losing. Its that simple. While it looks like Ipswich was good for 20 minutes and the injury to Izzy looked pivotal we must have other options as the break out. 1 is easy to defend against, numerous keeps the other team guessing. We have the players, but its getting them to recognise triggers. We can't defend for 60-70 minutes of every game, have 20% possession and expect to get results consistently. But I know Warney isn't stupid, he will know that - if he's given the time and opportunity I think he can do well with us - as for Saturday - if we can get a result I think it can be a real turning point. It will get the fans on side, which will get the players feeling better about themselves, confidence & happiness as lame as it sounds goes a long long way in football.
Id like to add that the ability to keep the ball helps. The midfield ability and decision making is key too I think. pressure on the ball and how one deals with it. I dont mind if its a more direct method or possession but it is key where one gives the ball away. I think this season the poor quality has been noticeable in the amount of poor midfield passes that has put the team under immense pressure.
