Dael Fry is a ball-playing central defender with real potential, but there will be tough days for the Middlesbrough loanee, who has just turned 19, as he learns his trade.
I'm not being sarcastic when I say that I am pleased for the lad that he is learning his trade in the school of hard knocks that is Rotherham United. But he will be learning his trade at our expense and Middlesbrough will benefit. Can we be so generous?
Why sign Ball on a 3 yr deal and then fetch in someone just as inexperienced who isn't our player and play him in his place?
Stubbs took his time on the recruitment front:
Vaulks: can't get a game - deemed not good enough
Forster Caskey: can't get a game - deemed not good enough
Ball: can't get a game - deemed not good enough
Allen: dropped after a couple of starts - deemed not good enough
Forde: can't get a game - deemed not good enough
Wilson: favoured centre back but deemed not good enough by the fans
Brown, Taylor & Fry are the only decent looking signings though Fry was too weak yesterday.
Frecklington is an attacking midfielder so Stubbs plays him deep alongside Halford. Class.
We're far too worried about how good the opposition are instead of making them worried about us. Cardiff did a job on Brown yesterday which should have created space for the likes of Frecklington but when he's playing him so deep we couldn't capitalise.
