Are we witnessing the beginning of the end...

The TS dynasty is being shaken. Its not under threat yet but one begins to wonder. There is considerable strain at the club at present. Its the third season and things are not under control and expectations are having to adjust.

I ve never had so many emails asking me to take up corporate hospitality. If thats happening then the club is beginning to lose contact with its fans and customers.

All in All the bubble has burst hasnt it.

So, is this a natural part of the evolution that we have to go through. Stubbs could yet pull it together and produce a solid team. However, the X Factor left with Evans and returned briefly with Warnock.  Is that how important a personality at the helm is? it helps when either good performances or results follow. Neither are happening at present and the managers personality is troublesome to most.

none of the above really helps does it.

perhaps saturday next and the one after that is all we have left to judge the whole club on.

Maybe, its a good sign that the football side of things will get some serious attention now the razzmatazz has gone

Sad but true ian. With the brief blip under Warnock the club seems to have reverted to type, not learned, or progressed. I would have thought that after two and a bit years in the Championship we would have had a settled side approx mid table in ability. I would have expected a stable if not slightly improved match day attendance and a waiting list for corporate hospitality. Instead it just seems like amateurs trying to set a new club up for the very first time.

Each year the same mantra 'Quality over Quantity' and yet each year its almost a complete rebuild, and despite who is at the helm (Warnock the exception) no matter how many different players we have, it always seems to be the same hit or miss tactics, same tired legs, the same excuses and the same outcomes.

I could believe the tough league story, the big money that we cant compete with, the agents who thwart us, and the nasty clubs who snatch players away as we're poised, pen in hand to sign them. Yet clubs comparable to ours and smaller in some cases seem to do ok and apparently prosper. Its no use arguing one game does not make a season and that its over a season of 46 games, because once a game is gone thats it, and the games yet to play are in the ether somewhere and do not exist only on paper. Its the now that is important, but we are always waiting for jam tomorrow, sniffing around hoping we can grab a goal, nick a point here and there and hope that those around us fare worse. The deeper I look and the more I consider the situation, the more parallels I can draw from the dark days.

Its true we balance the books with a spanking stadium to be proud of no doubt. But as for everything else ? Its as you were. Not long at this rate before its the old 3 -4 thousand Millmoor faithful looking lost New York stadium. I just hope I'm very wrong.

I'd disagree on the corporate hospitality, I've had a ticket there for the last 4 seasons and it's busier now than it's ever been. Remember there are always quite a few away supporters trying to get in for only a few spare tables in addition to company's, birthday treats etc.

We had a table for the last 3 seasons but haven't had one this year. Currently sat in the east stand and the corporate area looks rather sparse!

Have to go with Flicker then if he is actually there.

My perception must be entirely wrong.

great post Towdlad.

The points you make about the rhetoric not matching the progress is very well made indeed.

I hope we have unjustly been worried about the new signings...

Its funny but like many will agree there is something oddly beguiling about Stubbs and his team. I only have a faint glow of the hope left but I could swear I saw something very promising at various times in a few of the matches. Not just flashes but the appearance of a strong capable team...but its beginning to look like fools gold at the present.

I didnt ever feel like that when Redders was here and to be honest I only ever believed in Evans rather than his team, so much seeming to rest on his personality. The one exception to that was when we had lafferty and hunt here with some of the old crew. I thought that small era was something that was very definately good enough for mid table.

Anyone noticed how quiet Tony has gone lately?

I thought that too Brad, he was all for media stuff when we were hunting the (still very much) elusive Blackstock and now not a peep. The "only one Tony Stewart"'s have disappeared too. Cracks appearing in the relationship.
