I know, you've opened this thinking the author must be barking mad! Despite all the understandable and deserved frustration on here after today's exasperating performance, there are some positives. Firstly we didn't lose and we advanced two places up the Championship. If we can do that whilst playing so badly, all isn't lost. Next, our first 10-15 minutes were excellent and I was beginning to think we'd turned the corner. After that we sat so deep we needed scuba gear! This puts our back 4 under immense pressure which is almost impossible to withstand and disguises the fact that they are a reasonably solid unit. It's a pity Taylor was hurt because together with Brown and Ward they looked capable of hurting Bristol on the break. Which leads me to another positive - if Frecklington and Adeyemi are fit for Wednesday, and if the midfield start defending from the halfway line, we have a team which could trouble Forest. However if we let the opposition advance up to our penalty area unimpeded, a decent strike force will chalk up a cricket score. I suppose what I'm saying is that we have the individual players to compete in this league. I just hope the coaching team realise what everyone at NYS knew today, if you sit back and give the opposition the freedom of the park, eventually you'll be exposed and probably humiliated. So, it's not all doom and gloom and a subtle change in tactics should see us right. Come on AS, you know it makes sense. Onwards and upwards!
I see what you are saying Glenn but unfortunately I have no faith that stubbs is the man that can lead us up the table. Three games at home, three identical outcomes - take the lead, sit back and get battered for the rest of the game. We should have lost all of those games but somehow we managed to mug 5 points out of them .... and the less said about our away performances the better.
Apart from 20 minutes v's wolves, I have not been entertained this season. Watching the Millers at the moment is a chore.
Izzy Brown was the only positive for me and he could be a real danger if managed well and played as a co-striker with Blackstock - this one up front is bad, but even worse when the one isn't a marksman. DW scores and we are 3-0 and their heads go down today, instead he fluffs it and we get a point. As a striker in the championship you only get 1 or 2 solid opportunities a game and they have to be taken.
