Bristol make a nice 9 million profit which could rise to 13. Great buissness from them that will help enormously. If you have a good scouting system and a little money to invest then this is what you get, ask Barnsley.
Correct Fliker. Two teams you might think of as our rivals both with multi millions to reinvest. If you can't get hold of Bristol City or Barnsley to ask them, ask Brentford about Andre Gray. They will give you the same story. Our non-existent efforts to bring our own players through or find young gems elsewhere is catching up with us. The only stab we've made at it really is Agard (qualified success) and JCH (raw talent and big gamble). Stubbs might be having a go at it now, but he has to try and play catch-up whilst at the same time delivering results otherwise he will as we have seen come under pressure very quickly. Or we could revert to signing and re-signing 30 plus year olds every summer and trying to hang on season after season. You pay your money, you take your choice.
Barnsley sign Boro defender....jesus, they won't conceed another goal at this rate..

It's still down to lack of investment though isn't it. To sell an asset you have to own it in the first place. That, plus you have to recognise the value of having players on longer term contracts when they are any good – instead we let the likes of ALF go for way short of his value.
With the right deal we could have probably kept the likes of Dicko, Tavs and similar players and sold them on for decent profit or have a better team and avoid our current plight.
Evans was successful until we reached the point where our player budget didn't match the league we were in. We needed to spend to keep the better players (Evans openly stated he wanted to keep the likes of Tavs, Pringle etc. and targeted Griffiths and others.. but the club did not offer enough to keep them or get them in). Evans, faced with the lack of funds to keep or buy was forced to loan 1000 players and hope for the best - which didn't work and the club learned nothing from this.
Redfearn had zero funds and had to work with what was left from Evan's issue. The club learned nothing from this.
Warnock worked a short term miracle, but again the lack of investment (this time in the manager and a transfer pot that would have kept Warnock here) caused us to start over. The club learned nothing from this.
AS I think has the makings of a decent manager - but again, he has asked for named targets but the club hasn't met his aspirations and landed any of them. In a decent team some of the new players we have brought in might be ok, but we have not got the core quality we need, which is back to my point about lack of funds to get/keep the better players..
Reece Burke defender of West ham (another we were thought to be on for ?) Gone to Wigan. .
. Dont focus on the negatives Ian -look at who hasn't been signed yet...it's like deal or no Deal.
There have been some decent players in the palms of our hands that most fans could see would be nailed on investment and great while we had Em.
Quite bizarre or just people negotiating and running things without football in their blood?
I think probably the latter Ian, good intentions and I could forgive that after one season, but not after three.
It is not our money and we don't know all the facts, but I would think most fans can see some of these problems - and it's very frustrating seeing nothing done about it.
For me it goes all the way back to when we got deducted points for lack of proper paperwork. If that was my business, it would have been a massive red flag warning and a trigger to make sure we have a better set up, one that is fit for purpose for the Championship with the right level of skills and experience. Maybe something was done behind the scenes, as I can’t recall anything much being said publically.
Then you look at the public announcements about players we are bidding for, but then we get outbid and not only do we not get the player , it makes us look amateurish and totally out of our league (literally). Again you would have thought this was a lesson to learn, but on the face of what we know, we don’t seem to learn at all, and do the same over and over again…
This is just my opinion and as I say I can only speculate as I'm just a fan - but I'm also a Manager in a business and some of these issues seem to be repeating and visible to anyone, and from a fans point of view – nothing seems to be done about it and as a fan it’s very very frustrating when the Millers are in your Heart...

This is starting to get seriously embarrassing for RUFC, Alan Stubbs, Tony Stewart, Paul Douglas & especially us fans, I really think that this season we'll be rivalling 14/15 Blackpool FC for least points gained.
I do wish Tony would keep his powder dry when it comes to the pre season "record transfer fee offered, Manager with Championship experience" BS, none of us believe it (not the sensible ones anyhow), we are & will ALWAYS be bottom feeders when it comes to transfers etc. Believe me, It'll get to 11pm on Wednesday night & IF (& It's a big if) we sign someone, chances are it'll be a 34 year old injury prone experienced pro who's after one final decent payday see Collins, Green, Richardson etc etc.
im beginning to agree that we are been fed howlers at the moment the club are not doing themselves any favours
plus they charges my family £42 to put a memorial on the screen i was dumbfounded plus £18 for a postage stamp memorial in the programme
i dont blame stubbs
i blame the stewarts
and i expect nothing from the transfer market and we will get the usual bull shine
not a happy miller just a ripped off fan
This is what happens when promises are not fulfilled-we all get irritated and angry. £42 is a bit rich considering the relationship we have to the club. I hope some action can be taken on this. Surely, this does not have to be a money making exercise.
