“The 30-year-old free agent, who played in Europe’s top club competition when he was with Celtic, is a proven performer in the English second tier with Nottingham Forest who paid the Scottish giants £2.5 million for his services in 2013.
He had a chequered fitness record in the last three seasons at the City Ground, undergoing back surgery in November 2013, and was released in the summer after making 40 Championship starts.”
Good on paper, but Surely, Surely, Surely, Surely… after Becchio and a string of others, surely surely this will be a pay per play contract??
The flip side is that after an injury he is desperate to prove himself which is great. To put a context on it - Freckilington was one of our best players last year without a doubt and he was injured for half of it.
Do we really need another central defender to add to Broadfoot, Wood, Belaid and Thorpe, maybe Halford as well?
Surely we have much more urgent priorities further upfield.
