linked with a striker in sweden

Sky Bet Championship side Rotherham United are in talks with Swedish striker Christoffer Nyman, according to journalist Alan Nixon

Nyman, 23, plays his club football in his home country of Sweden for IFK Norrkoping, who finished first in the Allsvenskan last season which is the top league in Sweden.

On course to that league title Nyman played a crucial role as he made 29 appearances and scored 10 goals throughout the 2015 campaign.

As well as winning the league, Nyman also helped IFK Norrkoping to lifting the Svenska Supercupen last season.

He is regarded as a player with good technical ability and a keen eye for goal and at just 23 years of age, Nyman would have plenty of time to adapt to English football and improve his overall game should a move materialise.

Rotherham United are keen to bolster their striking options following the news of Jonson Clarke-Harris facing a lengthy lay off of between 6-9 months, leaving them with just two fit strikers in Danny Ward and youngster Jerry Yates, who is yet to play a game in the Championship

Brad, the question is raised for the following reasons:

1. We arnt Barca, Man U or any number of other European super clubs with a scout in each and every country so what do we know about a player in a small european league.

2. If we were not willing to pay circa £600K for Bradshaw but happy for 1.6 Mill for Gregory, what price for this guy?

3. is he not more of a risk at any price than a proven 20+ goal a season striker from within the English league that our closest competitors are willing to sign ?

Dont get me wrong, i have had a full on whine about our lack of signings but this just smacks of desperation in view of our inability to sign the striker we desperatley need.

All the "speculation" is frankly boring & insults the intelligence of the average fan.

Hmmmm not only does it insult you, I and the majority of RUFC fans, the conduct of the club on this front is quite frankly embarrassing this closed season. One extreme under Evans to the complete polar opposite

Well they said they were looking to Europe for strikers...

Perhaps Ibrahimovic was the intended Swedish target but Nyman was easier to spell? lol

I would like to offer a friendly cognitive challenge...

pretend you are a supporter of a different team-perhaps pick one at random-and immerse yourself in their rumours and news links for a week or so. What I suspect you will find is pretty much the same mindset.

The cognitive bias is enormous and it even allows fans the miraculous ability to slag a player off before they have seen them play and in some instances they slag them off because they have blond hair...ive also seen a defender slated when the team was really under poor management yet was clearly performing better than anyone (Broadfoot) only to become a club hero after putting in the most consistent of great displays that galvanised the team and made us solid as...at the back.

Ex, could we have a feature where everyone that slags a player off or praises them is captured and referenced then we can all go back and laugh...er , I mean look seriously at the very serious business of the ability to know what the hell one is talking about?

just for fun...lol

And me too...happy to be reminded of past predictions! I also started a thread at the beginning of July asking if we had a team and everyone says don't worry - plenty of time to go... Evans bought a lot of old stagers - some good some bad, we are now just bringing in less of the same.
