I dont know why we even talk about us being linked to high value players if the club is unable or unwilling to compete. It only raises expectation with the fans and then brings us all down to earth with a bump. I happens every year

we would get him for £600k if we want to stay up we will have to spend some money, this squad is at least 4 quality players away from 4th bottom with the quality of the teams next year

Well thats right derby, and if this guy is the type of player we want, with the type of quality we want, then we should be prepared to push the boat out. Its a gamble, it always is, but if we mean to improve then we have to go for it.

I know we all speculate about players, but if we are going for him, then we should keep quiet until the deal is done, because what bugs me is we hear all this stuff about who we are interested in, a big player, a quality player, etc etc then, being RUFC, it always seems to end up as guff.

I appreciate Paul Davis is keeping us in the loop with things, things we like to hear. Thats fine and I appreciate it, not blaming him for reporting this to us at all it, but its the club. Unless the club really is in the market place and means business then the club should keep it under wraps and get on with it.

I think Bradshaw and Gregory would both be risky signings tbh.

Its a big step up to our current level.

That said, its not like we can go out and buy someone proven at this level so we have to take a bit of a punt.

Thing is both would be great additions for the following season, should we go down.

Fwiw, the chances of signing either is minimal in my opinion.

You have to hope this is not just RUFC playing the "linked with" game to con us that we are looking at these decent players. In the end when we buy the usual dross they will say we couldn't land our targets - presuming they ever were. I agree with towdlad if you were serious you would do this behind closed doors until ink is on paper.

at the moment i feel like we will get slaughtered this year, it will be a lot harder. We need players and we will have to chance it with a few younger or lower league players, we will have to spend money to stay up.

If we are going to risk one of these players it would have to Bradshaw for me.

Gregory at 27 years old has only had 2 seasons in the football league. He has had 1 decent season in League 1. Bradshaw is 4 years younger and has had 2 good seasons.

Seems it was all guff after all then,. No surprises there. I dont know why they put this stuff out,its pretty pointless. A bit like me talking about what I'd do if I won the lottery, I dont do the lottery.

I take your point but either ways it false information being peddled, and if it has no real quantifiable substance, someone aught not to put it out.

Thats the problem with social media, there's too many want to be football reporters that get a so called sniff here and there putting stuff on twitter and people see that and take it as a cert.

Until the club annouce a signing thats when you should take it as granted.

We have to be realistic in this league and tony stewart will not send this club back to the dark days of past and that i am grateful for, what ever comes is a bonus to be where we are today compared to 8 years ago is a dream in my eyes but is not good enough for some.

To be fair this "link" comes from a newspaper - not the twitteratti - they should check their sources. If it was just a forum post no one would actually care.
