If ticket prices went up £2 per home game which would give us an extra 20k a home game which equates to 2 decent players wages over a season would you be happy to pay it or not? People (kempo) keep telling Tony to get his cheque book out but would you ?
Lose that much each week from season ticket discounts across the 6.5k ST holders and even more from those of us who bought them earlier. So just reduce the discount by £46 each and you could try the experiment.
I'd go for it if they specifically said that was happening as in it was an investment from the fans to fund additional players.
Then I'm investing in the club (not just paying market rates for entertainment) so if we get promoted using 'my' players presumably I and everyone else gets a kickback?
RUFC is a commercial enterprise so its probably a grey area to do such a thing.
It's all relative. If we managed to double our ticket income we would still be in the bottom 6 in this division. Money is not the solution. Youth, smart recruitment, teamwork, graft and good management /tactics are the way to go. We just can't compete financially.
Also there are some fans that will never be happy. I remember 'tha crap Arnason' being shouted to the man who made Robin Van Persie and Ronaldo look pap.
Arnason was made to look crap at times by following Evans' instructions.
I agree with the youth development, it's the only realistic long term prospect.
Double the size of the ground and we would still only have the 8000 hard core fans we have now. Other local clubs will still bleed customers away.
The only profit to be made with attendances is at the away end where ground expansion might bring in more revenue at the big games, but that strategy only works if we stay in the Championship.
I understand the reasoning behind the question but in reality it isn't nearly as simple as the question suggests. The way forward is to increase the supporter base, though this has to be an incremental and longer term goal. In fact if anything I am an advocate of adding capacity to the ground and reducing prices a la Bradford to create a bigger, fuller ground and to get the next generation of supporters to 'buy in'.
I agree with those though who say that there is a limit to what we can achieve through the turnstile, and that we need to generate other revenue streams, whether it be more corporate facilities (G&C / hotel site /retail included) or bringing on younger players (developed ourselves or good recruitment from leagues below) and selling at a profit. In the short to medium term, that is the more realistic proposition.
Ok Jolly Roger , so the answer is to expand the away end to fit more away fans in for the big games ok , what about the other 15 games when the away end is half full , its ok saying the home end only gets 8000 in but I think you will find for those same big games you would extend the away end for, The home end is also full so makes all this crap about extended the away end null and void , can't anyone else see this !! we only have an home end that fits 9,500 so we are 1,500 short of it being full most times with the corners empty so where are all the home fans supposed to go even if we get more fans for those same big games, I think more sense in building the east stand up, so if needs be we can split this stand if home fans don't require the seats and give to away fans , that to me makes more sense , so we can be flexible to whatever the needs are for each match ,not have a completely odd looking stadium with an away end bigger than the home end !!
