These Euros are boring

Yet to see a real good, exciting game. Far too pedestrian. International football is on its knees.

Italy vs Belguim was a cracker - in my opinion.

I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would. Italy/Belgium is definitely the stand out match so far. All the games have been fairly tight - no easy wins - and a lot of good football. Impressed by Poland against the Germans. Difficult to predict a tournament winner with any great confidence.

Italy v Belgium has certainly been the best so far but there's been no flair from any team. It's all too much like walking football with the occasional burst.

As for England - utter tripe.

There's been one or two flashes of excitement but generally I agree most of it has been boring. I put it down to the sanitisation of football where any form of tackle risks a yellow card. The gladiatorial aspect of football has gone. I'm not suggesting that we should resort to cloggers but booking a player for genuinely going for the ball and accidentally making contact shouldn't be a yellow card. As for the offside rule that's just a complete farce. It was part of the game for defenders to outwit the forward by good positioning and movement to spring the offside trap. Now it's basically allowable for the forward to stand where he likes and hope that the offside lottery ticket decision by the ref goes in his favour, and often it does.

The World Cup 2 years ago was already worse, full of no risk safe football. The only moment of flair was that goal scored by James Rodriguez's for Columbia. There has already been a few good goals scored and teams seem to be more adventurous where 1 team seems to have the over arching quality. Those that dont, the pattern is staying in the game and trying to nick something late on and its making for some tense endings

Maybe it's just me then? I am thoroughly enjoying it.
I have to agree regarding the tackling in the game nowadays, every foul, however slight, seems to result in a yellow card, it is as if the majority of ref's can't wait to get their cards out and get a close up of themselves on TV!

I think its been fairly good.

There seems to be good competition this year. No one looks out played dramatically.

lots of teams looking to score with positive counter attacking football at times.

Yes maybe but there are a lot of over hyped players on display

I went off international football years ago. The last England game I watched would have been 1990 against Belgium I believe, when Platt scored with an overhead kick from, if I remember, a Beardsley cross. After that I've found the England game has become dull, dreary and indecisive, disjointed and lacking in flair. Most of the players since then have been individually talented, but collectively it has never seemed to gel, a collection of individuals but not a team.

As you can gather I haven't seen a single game and bemoan with Towdlass the re-scheduling of Coronation Street

Maybe worth another look after 26 years, may have changed?

Although, I do tend to watch any football that is on. Last season I was watching East Fife (I think it was them, the ground was right on the coast) on Alba TV. The commentary was in Gaelic and I couldn't understand a word biggrin.

Yeah, I watch league football of course and the play-offs are usually gutsy stuff. And also I have found womens football to be entertaining, theres less stoppages which lets the game flow, its the international games I'm not bothered about. The home internationals were always good for a bit of blood and thunder with a bit of passion too, a sad loss in my view; perhaps they didn't earn enough mammon to hoover up

Most of the fireworks on the pitch appear to be thrown there by the fans.

we are better off finishing second than first (if we are good enough) given the likely next round opponents.
