he has to be ambitious and ui think tony listened to warnock . he is getting the brinsworth site started something he never mentioned under evans last two seasons. He has realised he has to spend on getting one or two real quality players in
To be fair I think Stubbs was talking about the medium to long term when he was talking about aiming to be pushing for the play offs. Listening to Tony Stewart when asked about goals for next season he was talking about not being in the bottom six which again is a realistic (albeit challenging) target. I think we and they all know the score.

That was my take on it as well Smiler. I thought TS's comments were spot on, if we can finish out of the bottom six at the end of next season, it will be seen as another significant step forward in the development of RUFC.
In defence of Mr Stubbs, what is he supposed to say? He has to come in on a positive note and having a long term goal of being a top half team is the least he could say without appearing defeated already.
One thing is certain, he has just taken over a Championship club and gone from being a "big fish in a little pond" to, a "little fish in a big pond". He and his staff know this is going to be a very difficult season but, one he is confident we can do well in, we saw at the end of last season what confidence can do and that mind set for the players comes directly from the manager.......!!

to paraphrase;
we havent progressed in the 2 seasons and we need to do better. we have finished in the bottom six each season and Id like us to be in the next group of six this next season...
