We haven't guaranteed anything by appointing Warnock. The players were trying for Redfearn. They just weren't quite good enough to get the wins we needed and didn't get many breaks. Like Redfearn, Warnock comes in with a tough run of games about to start and like Redfearn he has no opportunity to change personnel. Lets be right about it, we are still in a bad place. We have ditched the idea of long term planning and have gone to a short term firefighter as a roll of the dice. I will get behind him and them 100% as I am sure we all will, and staying up is very do-able, but don't burden the guy with the expectation of miracles. Lets pull together, and don't turn on them if it doesn't always go our way. It won't. We are in the middle of a mini league of six, and need to finish in the top half of it. UTM.
Wise words as usual Smiler, but it is something to feel optimistic about for a change. As you say the players are the same but lets hope they feel a new drive and commitment with such a high profile gaffer at the helm.
Very kind Towdlad. It may do the trick, and let's hope so. Now that we have made this commitment it will get my full support. I don't care if there is a Warnock effect, if we are boring to watch, if another one goes in off Becchio's backside, if we play 442 451 or 811. The message from the top is clear - whatever it takes to stay up this season is fine. If that is the goal I will get behind it.
