Clubs can't be sacking managers after a few months Ian. We used to laugh at Italian clubs for that now we are at it. It is ridiculous. Managers won't dare build with the long term in mind if they think they are getting the bullet for one bad month. That isn't good for any club. It is the Cellino school of chairmanship. I heard Sean Dyche on this subject. He says it takes six months minimum for a manager to get a team even close to how he wants it. I applaud Burnley for sticking with him. They found themselves in a league where they were struggling to compete and went down but had the guts to stick with him. Because he feels secure he can plan and build, and the club has stability. Burnley will be all the stronger for it in the long run.
That's true sometimes but Burnley, Blackburn, wolves, arsenal, Newcastle, I could go on...are all examples of clubs who do stick with managers but didn't always achieve progress. Burnley have been fortunate. I don't think it proves or disproves the rule.
A board and club have to feel it's right. When it's wrong then it's OK to try again.
There are many examples of clubs moving on managers quickly until one fits. It could go either way.
