Very sad that in some quarters he became known as Clubfoot. Yeah, I can see the funny side, but it dont take long for some Millers to start turning against a player. Two fingers to em Kirky

Not justifying the way fans can turn on players Towdlad (constructive criticism and opinions are fine but people go too far), but it didn't help Broadfoot when he was asked to play at right back in his first few games for us. He didn't look good there. I remember checking out Blackpool forums when we signed him and the overwhelming opinion there was that he was a fair enough centre half but never a full back, and that seems to be about right to me. Personally I have never been his biggest fan. I have thought of him as good centre back cover but perhaps not first choice. No doubt though in recent weeks he has been terrific, and his one weakness (lack of pace) is not so apparent when he has quicker players like Matttock, Facey and now Belaid around him.
I was in the club foot brigade (not that I would shout it out loud) and that was his nick name but how I got that wrong. Couldn't see his strengths he looked slow and hoofed it I thought. He's either improved immense or I'm totally blind I probably think it's a bit of both. Well done kirk keep it going

Dont think you are blind Fliker, but as he explains, he was played out of position which we did know, having said that I had my doubt too. But what gets me is the viciousness thrown at some players at times. Criticism is fair enough but its the personal insults that gall me. I know passions run high, particularly when in the position we're in but some of the stuff is uncalled for, thats why I use this message board now, theres more level heads on here who express disappointment without getting nasty or personal.
Theres a psychological aspect too, decent players dont become bad overnight. I remember Garry Birtles scored for fun for Forest, couldn't hit a barn door when he went to Man U. Nearer home a one Rod Fern was languishing in the Millers reserves until the arrival of Porterfield and the rest is history. If you are happy with your colleagues (team mates), your work place (club), your boss (manager) and the job that is asked of you (position), you are more likely to deliver.
When we signed him Guy Branston said we'd signed a good player. He knows a good centre back when he sees one.
I'd say up there with Arnie & Morgan as a perm' signing our best centre back since Swailes & Mcintosh. Belaid looks good.
