Donny fans in Away end.

Apparently, several Donny fans were in the away End last night cheering on Brighton according to those Brighton fans present, see their fans forum, several mention them. They really dislike us don't they.

And then they went slinking back to their caravans parked near the Deepthroat Dump.

I work in Donny. I asked a Donny Rovers supporter about this. He reckons they have an affinity with Brighton because Brighton v Donny was the last ever game at the Goldstone Ground and they have ties going back to then. Might be true, might not, but if it is then it might be more a case of supporting Brighton than hating us. In my experience Donny hate Leeds with the greatest passion. Chesterfield is the odd one for me - they really do hate us and its hard to put a finger on why. Like most Millers I am not too fussed one way or another about them. Perhaps that winds them up even more.

I disagree, Donny fans REALLY hate us with a passion, I know & have worked with a few & even they struggle to work out why, but it's more than a geographical rivalry.

Not bothered whether they hate us or not. The fact is they paid to come in and hate us, they can bring their mates too
next home game and fill a few empty seats and hate us the more....... Jealousy, jealousy

Smiler, Donny fans really hate us and always have and it's not reciprocated as we've generally been better than them over the years with the odd exception of a year or two. I recall a televised game between Donny and Hull and the Donny fans spent the whole game chanting "if you all hate Rotherham, clap your hands!"

Think Chesterfield hate most things Yorkshire as do the Cod Heads in Grimsby and Clethopees! That's an inferiority complex I think? Generally prevalent in areas quite close to our county boundary or dominated by Yorkshire based telly and stuff.

Personally, I couldn't give a whatsit who likes and dislikes us, and I don't particularly dislike Wednesday like many on here.

I dislike Millwall. That's it. Oh! And stoke. That's it.

Maybe Newcastle actually.

Liverpool too and arsenal.

Brighton fans were quite condescending and so we're Reading fans.

Wigan fans seemed OK.

That's about it. Just Wigan are OK. ..maybe blackpool. ..ish...He'll, I just don't know really. I stick with Wigan until someone says ought that's a bit arrogant

The Doncaster thing is news to me. I didn't suppose they loved us but I didn't know they especially loathed us. I can't be too bothered personally to feel that strongly about another club. I agree with Towdlad. Perhaps we could add to the home and away areas with a new 'just don't like Rotherham area'. Does anyone have any clubs with fans they have a particular affinity to? I mourn the demise of Hereford myself. I had a mate at college who was from Ross-on-Wye and I occasionally went to games with him for a laugh if they were up north mid-week. At times the away contingent barely made double figures, and usually the same faces, with the police deploying a man to man marking system. I developed a certain admiration for them.

Much better to respect other fans than to hate them.

I used to go to Leyton Orient games on a regular basis when I lived in London many moons ago. I was just one stop on the tube from Brisbane Road. I even went on a couple of away trips with their fans. Still have a bit of a soft spot for them. My flatmate at the time followed Bristol Rovers and we used to go and watch them or the Millers when they were in London.

I quite like Brentford too, developed a bit of an affinity with their Beesotted supporters, a really great bunch of lads.

Locally, I quite like Barnsley.

I lived in Wolverhampton for quite a few years back in the early 70's so was a regular. The days of Bradshaw, Carr , Gould, Hibbit, Parkin Richards, et al a good side in Div 1 (prem) at that time, saw most of the greats of the day playing at Molineux. The crunch came when we drew them in the FA cup after 3 replays with York City in about 1975. We lost 3-2 but it was a cracker of a game and all my Wolves mates were saying that the game had been the best they had seen in years, real end to end stuff.

The club I dislike is and no surprise, is Millwall. That dates back to the cup tie at Millmoor which we were winning 1-0 till about 5mins from the end when that big dirty centre forward Barry Kichener nodded an equaliser in. He should have been sent off three times over, and then he did for Womble good and proper. The replay was on the Tues night which I went to and I dont mind admitting I had my brown trousers on that night. We lost 2-0.

A neighbour of mind is a lifelong Millwall supporter and knew Kitchener personally and assured me he was a 'true gent' I told him of the Rotherham cup tie and the challenge on Womble that finished his career which he passed on to Kitchener at a fund raising dinner. He said he didn't remember the game but sent his apologies to me as a Rotherham fan, saying that he never deliberately set out to 'do' an opponent. Well yeah!!! Any way he passed away two or three years ago

Those brilliant hours spent at Belle Vue.
Great times. I'm not talking about Belle Vue, Donny.
Oh no. Belle Vue, Manchester.

I used to pop in and see Fulham and sometimes the Bees when living in London. Hate no one really, though pretend to hate pigs just to pee bro off. On second thoughts really not keen on Leeds.

Nice tale Towdlad. Millwall are hard to like. I lived in Leicester as a student for 5 years and only a stones throw from Filbert Street. I used to watch them regularly as I couldn't always afford the travel to watch the Millers. Leicester did a healthy student discount too. It's a proper club with proper fans and after they have been a yo-to club for many years it's great to see them upsetting the applecart with the big boys this season. I hope they really enjoy it while it lasts.

Just shows how ridiculous and arbitrary it all is...unless you believe in divine providence.

I lived in Lincoln for several years and although I really love the town I never felt that way about the football team despite many visits. However, they didnt make it easy by playing that ridiculous air raid siren every time they had a corner.

Maybe if Id have hooked up with a Lincoln lass things might have been different until the inevitable 'divorce'.

I also lived in Melton Mowbray for a few years in the 80's and a mate and me used to regularly watch either Forest or Leicester, whoever was at home midweek. Saturday's he went to Lincoln, his home town team, who were in the Conference then and got promoted back to the FL. I meanwhile travelled north to Millmoor! I preferred Leicester to Forest as I worked in the city and had a few friends who followed them.
