Who would you have

Broke our wage structure to sign or keep.

Looking back it would have been great to have signed tavs, he wanted to sign but Wigan paid his 9k ish wages and we didn't. I know it's not how it works but put halford and whites wages together and there you have the money. Same goes for dicko. A couple of quality players like these make a Hugh difference. If we are to progress it's the only way we can move forward quality not quantity or at the moment neither.

Speculate to ac***ulate.

no one knows the buisness behind these decisons but quality is there to see.

Like you said, Tavs and Dicko were obvious ones to push the boat out for.

The others I liked probably arent available but for a hefty price, but, I really liked young Reece James and of course Hunt.

We have had so many decent loan players that I bet we could all make up at least one team full of them that would pound our first 11 to the ground. The exception might be a striker and a central defender.

We have had a handful of good loan signings in recent years (notably Dicko, Tavernier, Hunt and Martinez) but like his permanent signings my d mate Evans had far more misses than hits, especially when you think that surely the whole idea of a loaner is to add short term impact/quality. Just for fun, here is a didn't work out loan XI; Kelle Roos; Lawrie Wilson, Scott Wootton, Miles Addison, Zeki Fryers; Paul Taylor, Anthony Wordsworth, Courtney Cameron; Adam Morgan, Tom Eaves, Matt Tubbs. Subs: any few from a lot of very ordinary players.

Scott Wootton would have him back yesterday. Centre Back could cover right back.

To be honest I was struggling to think of any other centre backs we have had on loan apart from Addison. I didn't mind Wootton myself, although we mostly played him at right back when centre back looks his best position.

I had a horrible moment just now when I remembered Jordan Slew. I am putting him in up front instead of Tubbs. At least Tubbs has shown he can score goals elsewhere.

I thought Becchio was poor to be honest.  I think he got two goals - one off his face that he took off Bowery's head on the goal line and one off his backside when he turned his back on the ball and the Blackburn (I think it was) keeper kicked it straight at him.  He looked six months away from being fit (not his fault after injury).  He has obviously been a good player, and was canny and experienced enough to make a nuisance of himself, but that was about it.  Is he still stuck at Norwich?

The one player I would have pushed the boat out to get was Tavernier.  He wasn't always the best defender but he had real quality going forwards and it would have given the club and the supporters a huge lift if we had got him.  Money talks though, doesn't it?

Definitely Tavs for me, but would have had to be on the proviso that Agard stayed, as they brought the best out in each other. Regardless at 6pm on Wembley night Tone should have slapped a contract next to his grilled salmon and garlic maris pipers

I've never understood the concept of having a maximum wage as it is unnecessarily restrictive and we have lost out countless times because of this short sighted policy.
Surely the main thing is to control the overall salary budget but, as in most walks of life, you have to pay extra if you want to employ quality.
I don't accept the argument that paying some players considerably more than others would lead to dressing room disharmony as this type of disparity in wages must be commonplace in the football world. In fact I bet some players at Rotherham are currently earning at least twice as much as some of their team mates.
If the club is serious about progressing to the next level then it is going to have to shelve its outdated salary policy in order to attract better players.
