yes it looked like we played ok and only lost by an own goal but we need to look at the facts
10 games in charge 7 defeats, 2 wins and 1 draw only 7 points extrapolate that to a season and it is 32.2 points now we had 8 in the first 10 so no better really but after 20 games in bottom 2 and a likely 32 to 33 points and it will take a massive next 26 games to stay up. needing approximately 35 points from those games.
Now Redfearn hasn't had much luck the players he brought in to "help" the squad have not worked so far
A young left back that isn't ready for this level of football, a young midfielder that scored on his debut then has been dropped to the bench, a defender that is another crock, a loan midfielder who on his first start scores a soft own goal that loses us the game, a striker that we are told is brilliant in training and behind closed doors games but got himself sent off and has missed 3 games. Not that much help there so far.
We now have 4 games where 5 points is a minimum requirement, 7 would be excellent if we don't lose to fulham, huddersfield and bolton. If after fulham we are still in bottom 2 and more that 4 points away from safety then we need to be planning out trips to Donny, Blades and Barnsley. We have more fight in us but not the class required for this level, nevermind we need to stay behind the team and manager, go to the games we can and cheer them on and not walk out before the end.
Agreed, but it's no fun as a fan to be enduring this week in, week out. Personally I can't wait to end this wretched season then we can compete against clubs of a similar financial size, Although a win at Huddersfield may start me dreaming again, somewhat doubtful though given our tactics in away games.
While I'm on, WTF have we done with Ledesma? Is he living in Danny Schofield's old house under house arrest? Only us could waste a wage like that.
Well I'm afraid that is a relegation side right there.
Didn't lay a glove on a very average Wolves side last week and same again today. Blackburn were rubbish but we couldn't exploit their obvious weaknesses. As for the goal, what the hell was Buxton doing? He gave their left winger all the time in the world to bring down an awkward looking ball, control it and whip in the cross.
Redfearn says we did enough to win .... really? I sat through the full 95 minutes and never thought for one moment that we would score a goal.
