He has had a bit of a stop start career so far with the high being a very successful spell at Newcastle in the Premier League. That shows he has the ability to be a threat in the Championship. He hasn't managed to regain that form since suffering a bad knee injury. At 29 you would think he has time yet. Hopefully he can do it with us. We needed a forward player and needed someone in before January. Good luck to him.

I'm hoping it might be the missing link, Evans never replaced Revs, for all his doubters he did give defenders a torrid time and did make it stick, just shows what a fool fat man was thinking Derbyshire or JCH could fulfil that role. Even Heskey, yes put him in front of goal he was garbage, but his effectiveness to the team was 2nd to none. If Best can at least do that it can only mean more goals and creating of chances which can only be a good thing

To me this signing reeks of desperation. Signing players out of contact this late in the season - theres a reason no-one picked them up. Its like looking in dumpsters.

Another point already mentioned - He spent 2014-15 on loan at Derby and Brighton, failing to score in 33 games.

I hope to god I am wrong. UTM.

I am not his agent or anything (I agree that it looks a gamble) but in fairness to him the 33 game stat is very misleading. He started only a handful of games and in the others was used as a sub, usually very late in games. I wouldn't read too much into it myself. Forwards need runs of games. It is fair to say he has never been profilic, but as Exeter suggests he may be more of a hold up/link up player than an out and out penalty box striker. If we assume we have signed him to play him, the question is who plays with him? My heart tells me that he might be the sort of player that Derbyshire could feed off but my head tells me that Derbyshire has had loads of opportunities. JCH is more of a threat but are he and Best a bit similar? The team selection for Saturday will be interesting.

For myself I wouldn,t mind Stephen Hunt either (if he is fit) as I think he could do a job in midfield-a good player not too long back.I know he is 34 now but till the end of the season?-well you never know.

Happy me, that Rotherham County strip looks a lot better in colour.wink  Leon Best.  Wow!  Apparently we beat of loads of other clubs desperate for him.  This should quieten the knockers and doubters.

1 goal in 4.76 appearances average, lets hope his most prolific spell is with us.
