Woeful England

I agree with the comments made earlier in the week by the Spanish coach.

Indeed , the loss of British identity is happening almost everywhere but it's no more plain to see than on the pitch.

Foreign coaches and players have destroyed England by adopting beliefs that are not suited to the temperament.

We don't just lose anymore. We lose without English flair and passion.

I shall not cease from mental strife

Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand

Till we have built Jerusalem

In England's green and pleasant land.

I think you are right, we are so poor, it takes me back 10 years, there is no british identity any more.

Thought it was funny that Hart ran to the linesman claiming offside to deflect attention from the fact that Spain's second goal was HIS fault.
If Woy was experimenting, why didn't he give either Butland or Heaton a crack?
We are a second rate football nation internationally & the BBC got it so right when they compared England's performance v Spain to an FA Cup minnow, plucky but ultimately so very inferior to the major nations.
Henderson & Lallana are only any good on adverts, a good sneeze would put Wilshire & Sturridge out for three months, Sterling is an overrated show pony, Oxlaide Chamberlain & Walcott are talented but are not in the top echelon, Kyle Walker has gone backwards, Jones is the Carlton Palmer of the current generation. I'm warming to Smalling however, he has improved & could form a decent CB pairing with Stones. I'd be very surprised if we made it out of the group stages of Euro 16.

It was warned about 20yrs ago, if we continue to let the PL and Sky ruin all and sundry for the sake of the PL nationally we'll get worse. The FA don't cover themselves in glory either, during that time woeful lack of policy, direction and funding for youth football. What did they do instead? Let PL teams build great big academies bringing youth in from all over the world. We also have about 3000 qualified coaches in this country compared to 30,000 in Spain. For whatever reason our boys play their season inline with the mens calendar WHY WHY WHY? Winter is not even started and the last 3 saturdays we've almost had a fixture blackout cos of the rain. Yet in Spain all the kids are playing on 3G. The whole sport in this country is eating itself and its utterly tragic to see.

foreign coaches and players are not the only reason we struggle-we did not qualify for the 1974/78 world cups with some outstanding players and there were no foreign players as such playing over here at that time.Perhaps we are not as good as we think,or would like to think?.

The truth is noone really knows why we're so bad.  We used to beat everybody back in the pre-war era but as soon as other teams put their minds to it we started losing.  We won in 1966 in a World Cup that was definitely the weakest ever.  We just can't do it at international level and the current crop of eligible players are the weakest in my lifetime.  I'm still trying to work out how we had a spell of domination in the European Cup back in the day.  I suspect other leagues were just in the doldrums.
