Tony Stewart spent the money to get a cracking stadium befitting Championship football. An example of getting what you pay for.
Steve Evans wasn't allowed to break the clubs wage structure in order to secure the permanent signings of players such as Hunt, Martinez, Dicko and Tavernier. This even applies to Morgan, Pringle and Wes Thomas. This is the reason he relied on so many loan players. People quite often state 'Evans blew the budget, if he didn't sign as many players then he could have signed the likes of Hunt..'.
This isn't the case. The wage requirements of these players exceeded the wage structure which the club wouldn't allow. This is another example of getting what you pay for.
I'm sure you have a point there. There does seem to be a disconnect between what TS proclaims as his aims for the club and the financial requirements to achieve those aims. It is potentially dispiriting because it means that a competitive team at Championship level is almost unattainable. Kempo has argued for a long time that the club needs new investors. The alternative is a default position as a L1 outfit.
