We are in an utter mess aren't we, but not an unsalvageable mess. Redfearn said about bad defending, yes that was because most of them are simply and collectively not good enough. For a seasoned pro Collins is about the worst I've seen pre Rob Scott. We need a leader by example back there, and I wouldn't let him near my 5 a side team, he'd get murdered over 40 minutes against failed academy 19yr olds, but he's picking up 5k? a week- figures. Redfearn also states about the midfield not helping defenders by picking up 2nd balls, now I'm no expert but even my reply of 'well durrr' would be the response when playing Green (who would also get murdered at 5 a side where sideways passing gets you nowhere), and G.Ward who's game is about as much as picking up 2nd balls as mine is Ice Hockey. These are our 2 central midfielders by the way, you know, those needing to protect the back four. I must say what a very un Derbyshire finish but credit where it's due, shame it will be after xmas when he scores again. As for D.Ward, seen enough - the great pretender, almost like that guy we had on loan from Ipswich (forget his name) but a poor mans version.
We've got to go back to the trusty 4-2-3-1, we neither have the ability or cleverness to play 4-4-2, and its not as if the extra attacker actually benefits us. What we have in absolute abundance is counter attacking threat especially now with young Barker, of Frecks can come back we get a leader.
Exeter are we clones? I have been saying this for weeks, it is so obvious in the situation we are in we have to stop the goals first and a more conservative formation is required, he has never played thorpe and smallwood together because he obviously doesnt believe in the 2 deep midfielders that are primarily defensive minded, thorpe spent 45 mins covering for green yesterday and yes he made a mistake for the 3rd goal but the lad has ability he needs to play alongside a proper footballer.
I genuinely believe Redfearn is the wrong man and we will be like Barnsley next season if he is still here
