It was way of the mark. Of course it was. He was responsible to admit he just didn't like him as we're others. Fair enough.
Those of us who did like him saw what he had brought to us-an almost once in a lifetime period of success and entertainment.
Never ever did I think it wouldn't get better while evans was here because he always spoke positively. He carried the team and supporters to belief land and he delivered. That's a fact too.
Water under the bridge but it's a fact. Not hindsight. Obvious.
We all want to believe the next thing is going to be better. Hell, we need the next thing to be better, it's why we get up in the morning.
I've been happy, excited, down, worried, anxious, ecstatic and content over the last 3 and a half years but I've never been so thoroughly empty as I feel now.
Tony Stewart needs someone to believe in. The players need someone to lead them. The fans need a hero. The bible says, "without a vision the people perish". I'm not religious in that way but I cant think of anything more apt.

Whatever you think of Redfearn or anyone else I wouldn't have Evans back if you offered me 50 points between now and the end of the season, which is by the way about twice as many as he would have got if he had stayed.
Yes we keep on fighting until it is unavoidable, wouldn't bet against it though. If we go down then we dust our selves down and regroup. Sacking Redfearn is not the answer.

There are some supporters Ian - I'm one of them - who don't think our club should ever should have been led by Evans. if you can look beyond that (and I can't) then in my opinion his recruitment in the summer was so very poor that we were struggling from day 1 this season and in my opinion (again) his way of management will ultimately leave any club he is at for long in bad shape long term. I would seriously rather have anyone - and I mean anyone - in charge of RUFC than Steve Evans and I would have told you the same thing an hour after we won at Wembley.

Respect that, but I have never felt his crime was so unforgivable. Don't get me wrong he is somewhat disrespectful but has many qualities too.
I might be wrong on this, I will admit, as it is a question of ethics and bond to the club. My Bond isnt very sensitive to crimes and misdemeanours. I'm all about loyalty and passion perhaps too much. I don't mean others that feel like you aren't but I mean it's my 1st priority.
I've been more upset at his disrespectful comments about wembley. For that I wouldn't take him back but I'd take him.back if it kept us up.
I'm struggling to understand where the view that Evans would have kept us up is coming from. He survived last season because three other clubs imploded. His performance in the close season was inept and we became relegation favourites as a consequence before a ball was kicked. After each match with Evans in charge the odds on relegation either stayed the same or shortened.
After the shambolic opening few games we saw signs of improvement which culminated in two wins. There is no way on this planet a team managed by Evans would have put up that gutless performance against Sheffield Wednesday.
We will never know if Evans would have kept us up or not but I wouldn't have bet against him.
the evans debate is pointless, we are having it because in the 6 games redfearn has been so awful and is trying to deflect onto evans which is out of order. Redfearn needs to man up, stop blaming others and do his job, personally I don't think he is capable of managing a squad of experienced pros only kids and being that is all the club can afford and what we will have next season you can see why they appointed him.
I do think the club should have removed warne, dibble and black I think they arent good enough
The fact of the matter is this, the players SE signed need major motivation (aka rockets up their backsides to perform). SE was able to do this. Yes we had a shakey start, but IMO there was clear improvement on the field - clearly shown in the 2 games prior to him leaving.
Now we have a squad of players who clearly arnt listening to "Mr. Nice Guy" Neil Redfearn, and who himself after 6 games in charge doesn't have the slightest idea of how to play to our current crops strengths.
Watching the full Leeds game on Saturday, it made me sick how much their players wanted to win. It was an obvious SE team.
I keep banging this drum, but why should professional players need a rocket up their backside to perform? Do they have no self respect or integrity? If I showed the same lethargy displayed by some in my job, I'd be sacked, and rightly so. As for the improvement, well that may have something to do with a certain Belgium international who then decided he didn't want to stay
