MILLERS BANTER PREDICTION LEAGUE FIXTURES( NO 12-oh if only it had been the 13th!)

Eyes down, 1 and 3, Thirteeeeeen-unlucky for some, or so the saying goes.

13 is our number of fixtures in this block before returning to a full Saturday program the day after the final fixture in our Big 13.

The coincidences in life often give us pause to think-is there more to this than mere chance?

The millers v owls is of course our 13th fixture on Friday; and while its not Friday the 13 it still has an ominous ring .

It was a disappointing first game under the new gaffer for many millers. The result was wrong and there were no clear signs of what is to come. A step forward it certainly wasnt. But, maybe the 13th will dispel the Demons.

So, this weeks Bonus is all about this most important of Games.

in total (including penalty shoot-outs there have been 98 goals scored in meetings between the bringers of light and those awful harbingers of dark since 1934, noting that 9+4=13

Indeed 1934 is credited as being the worst day of the great US depression, which in turn resulted many nations around the world falling into extremist political views with Fascism, Nazism, and extreme Communism dominating the political landscape, often to a detrimental effect.

ALSO in 1934:

Many dictators surfaced around the world, especially in parts of Europe, South America and Asia:

Joseph Stalin began his "Great Purge".

Hitler declared himself Fuhrer.

Getulio Vargas, the dictator of Brazil, turned the country into a near Fascist police state in 1934 with a new and repressive constitution.

Several countries in South and Central America fell to Communist and Fascist dictators.

John Dillenger was caught and summary execution executed by those lovely American cops.

Everyone's favourite couple Bonny and Clyde were likewise ambushed and shot to death by Americas finest.

Many credit the turning points of 1934 with the events that eventually led to WW2.

But far worse than any of this was The 1934 game when the wonderful Millers were defeated 3-0 against a cheating Wednesday side, who I would have thought bribed the ref and linesmen, as one would suspect it is in there nature (ask Zippy he was there with his Zeiss Folding Tropica Camera). It was 17 years later on the 13th January when the worlds greatest depression was finally lifted when the millers Triumphed 3-5 in the match known as 'The Great Return' of 1951 at that God awful pit in S6.

one other fact, our brave and honest and righteous warriors of Rotherham have never triumphed over the dark slime of S6 in an October fixture.

To gain a redeeming and credible 13 bonus points on Friday in our 13th Fixture this week and linking back to the 13th January 1934 when all the world went to hell and to stop such a thing happening again you have to simply predict if Good will win out over evil.

A predicted win for the millers will gain you 13 point

A predicted win for 'you know who' will gain you 13 points. but also many frowns.

To save face, I will allow a dishonourable draw prediction but it will only win you a bonus of 10.

Good luck

What a week its been.

Ive been through the mill, I can tell yer.

Up after Tuesday, down after Friday, mellow by Sunday and depressed by Monday. Thanks God I dont have PMT.

Some of our more stable forecasters will not be suffering such whims of fate. Notably, Exeter, Nez and Oneaday, who all predicted a win for Wednesday. Not only did their stoical acceptance of the form guide guarantee them a good nights sleep, but they also pocketed 13 more bonus points. Who says crime doesnt pay.

some other interesting facts from Millers Banter week 12.

Only Nez scored any points on the fixture between Charlton and preston by correctly predicting an away win.

Andy and Worcester were the only ones to score any points in the wolves v Brentford clash but could only manage 2 points each all the same.

The most succesfully predicted result was The Millers v Reading with no less than 4 soothsayers getting a maximum 10 points.

Those slightly bucking the trend are Andy, Worcester, Nez and GHF, who all seem to be slightly at odds with the clear tactic of following the form guides employed by most of the other punters most of the time.

Here are week 12s results.

Nez=65

Oneaday=62

Exeter=55

Unifier=53

towd Codger=48

PIDG=47

Ian=44

Andy Monium=42

Millmoor magic=39

Worcester=36

Sickly Child=35

Glass Half Full=32

The Loan Arranger=27

S8=25

Please feel free to check your individual scores and let me know if there are any errors.

Will update league and week 13 later tonight.

Looks like we might have another change at the top...
