Thought I'd post this since a week last Friday we bought a 59 Passat CC, less than 48hrs the new**** - blummin typical.
My vehicle is the 2 litre diesel 170 brake, has loads of oomph, does 50 combined and is an acceptable £180 yr tax. Now we paid 8k for ours, suddenly if my car has lost 2k in value, has the software redone and does 40 to the gallon, and tax is hiked, I'm damn well gonna want compensating - for all of it. If I'm in this mould what about the other 11 million - will this be the death of one of the longest standing and 'reliable' vehicle manufacturers? They've set aside what 6.5 billion? I don't think that's gonna be enough
I'd like to know if other makes of diesel cars have been fitted with the dodgy device other than the ones already highlighted.
Almost certainly. I suspect the UK govt and European Commission were made aware of problems with diesel engines ages ago but were too busy legislating on e-cigs.
