Could someone tell me what this guy has done wrong to be so far down the pecking order at RUFC? IMO a quality defender who has not let us down on the few occasions he has played. Personality clash with the manager? It has happened before!!!
Please.........You know you are not allowed to question, or wonder why, or even expect an answer. He who must be obeyed has spoken, do not question the great one who knoweth all, for he who casteth doubt on his wisdom shall be held to account on the black day of reckoning when the truth of the heart of the Millerite shall be showeth to be false and corrupt and knoweth not.
While those who rest in the bosom of the infinite knowledge and have purity of heart and question not and who speak thus, "In SE we trust", shall forever be blessed and dwell forever in the land of milk and honey and shall be known as Loyal Millerite and sitteth upon the high seats of NYS, for ever and ever. Amen
A CB with experience from successful Championship relegation battles, who also knows where the net is, not even being able to get in a side that has CB's that have been making mistakes in most games so far, and need goals especially from set pieces, a CB who has looked better than any other CB apart from Rawson the little we've seen of him, surly deserved a chance? But then again. I'm a numpty.
Just hope this doesn't cost us. In a fellow numpty we trust.

Agree he should have had much more of a chance. Doesn't make sense given his performance and pedigree.
Strangely with all these kind of decisions in SE s stewardship the player concerned tends to disappear in a lower league. Is that some sort of vindication?

i have put on previous post bet he is kicking himself letting thompson go because he was still around you can be sure collin would have gone as well to quote the master numpty ' to get some game time top professional blah blah '
because it obvious that it was anyone in defence except wood anyone in goal except collin. that was obvious with the loan of roos and he only put collin back in goal because he had too and then went for camp who looks good and quoting after him all summer blah blah . and he dropped adam again
well come may we will be after another goalie because adam will be off and who will blame him after been treated by this man who was quoting we got this player in becasue he was this good when we we won the play off final
adam has his faults we all do

I am not one of those who frequently have a go at Evans but this has got to be a personality clash as everyone agrees that Wood deserved his chance on a strictly football point of view.
Of course we must remember that nobody knows about behind the scenes events such as club rules, general behaviour, relationships with other players and staff....and so on and so on.
The few times I have seen him , he has given 100per cent on the pitch and Evans has just described him as a true professional..a great shame that clearly something is amiss...Remember TS will know and presumably agrees with Evans.
The 'true professional' bit from the manager adds to the mystery. If what we have is a 30 year old centre back who has played successfully in the Championship for years, performed well when given limited chances, wants to play (willing to go out on loan to get games) and is a true professional then it really is difficult to understand why we would rather give anyone other than him a game.
Evans doesn't fancy Wood as being good enough for the first team. That might be because they've clashed as personalities, it might because Wood lacks pace. It doesn't matter. It's Evans' job to hire and fire who he wants and TS gives him total freedom to do it.
Personally, while I like how TS doesn't interfere, backs his manager completely, I don't like how there seems to be no questioning of Evans' methods. Leave him to run the team, fine, but if he's brought in an employee on a senior wage and then not used that employee pretty much at all for the duration of their contract (-and actually brought in others to do the same job instead), I'd like to think there'd be some questioning about effective use of our budget.
If it was a one off, then fine, but it's player after player this happens to. In the end, wasting wages will do for us, so we have to stop this happening. But there's no sign that either Evans or the club are learning or doing things differently. Which is a concern.

I agree with that 100% DavidR. Wood is the same player now that Evans thought he was getting 14 months ago on a two year deal, presumably on good money by our standards bearing in mind his pedigree. I think it is fair to legitimately challenge a manager. The obvious conclusion is either that we made a mistake when we signed him, or that something is wrong that isn't immediately obvious to any of us. Which is it? And as you suggest DavidR, you could substitute any one of a dozen or more names for Wood in that analysis and ask the same question. Evans has escaped having to answer reasonable, challenging questions up to a point because he has got results, and then when the results started to go badly he labelled any critics numpties and suggests or says that if you don't agree with him you cant be a true RUFC supporter. Rubbish.
yes totally correct and tony needs to take him to task for that
we are all fans and reserve the right to complain. and one win doesnt get him off the hook for a disastrous start. and perhaps we need to stop going to scotland for preseason matches. aint working
