Listened to radio 5 Live this morning regarding the Costa incident and the commentator reminded us all of "The Hand of God" and concluded cheating was in the South American DNA. I remember paul Scholes handballing in a crucial goal in a World Cup qualifier against Poland and it passed with hardly a murmur and never gets mentioned.
Oh and that little incident by Thierry Henry v Ireland. Funny how our natural prejudice turns us into numptys 😇😈
I think the worst incident I saw was a Wales v. Scotland Euro (or WC?) qualifier where basically the winner went through. Joe Jordan handballed but the ref thought it was a Wales defender and gave a pen which gave Scotland the win. Never forget Jordan's great grin and clenched fist salute. Who said cheats don't prosper.
We don't play the ref nearly as much as other teams, while I don't like it you feel we have to do it or we will always be on the wrong end of naive officiating.
Interestingly, a bloke who sits behind me thought the whole incident was a total embarrassment and reflected very badly on us as a club. I was less concerned because from my seat, I clearly saw Marshall kick out at Derbyshire so wasn't surprised at the sending off. I was bemused by the penalty award but, in our current state, wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth!
I reckon the ref made the call entirely on his own. He looked over at the linesman who seemed unmoved by anything that had occurred.
As a matter of interest, was yesterday's referee the only disabled ref on the FA's books?

Yes I remember this too and thought it was quite hypocritical of all the fans who failed to mention the clear cheat. On the note of Costa I think his behaviour was a disgrace.

Remember this too pretty sure it was a World Cup qualifier played at Anfield.

Yeah, from my seat the kick looked outrageous, but on the TV it looked like a flick. Perspectives, points of view , angles and all. Still, it was violent conduct. Off!
