i have got my suit of armour on ready my shield of deflection armed with my sword of truth for the evanettes who constantly spout the in Evans we trust dribble you know who you are and relentlessly attack anyone who dares attack Evans
we need a new change of direction quickly both in team motivation and tactics
we are now 7 games in and 2 points to show for it
i don't think Steve Evans and Paul raynor are not up to this level yes he has given us promotion but we can not live in the past
these are my opinions as to why
he isnt learning from past mistakes and even John breckin all but said it on radio sheff last night
1) hoof ball
2) Derbyshire up front on his own in the possession losing 4 5 1 formation with the midfield 25 yards away wtf
3) Steve Evans is motivational manager and unwilling to try any other formation like 3 5 2 this would still give us a strong midfield with two up front and allows a 5 3 2 on defence with a better ability to counter attack just because other teams play that why should we
at one point Brighton were playing 2 4 4 we was that deep
4) getting a third choice goalkeeper as our number one and putting collin on bench
5) halford as captain ignoring frecklington green and smallwood who were established players then takes the captain armband and gives it to frecks and says halford has off pitch issues if that's the case then why play him until had he got his head sorted out
6) players out of position then drops them for playing bad
7) he needs concentrate on the match not running to the 4th official for pointless conversation
if we lose to Cardiff and i think we will unless he changes the playing style as it is so easily read if he had played 3 5 2 at the start from Brighton it would have put them on the back foot
if he cant see the woods for the trees then Tony needs to pull the trigger
i seriously cant see Tony Stewart been happy with the current position and have 4000 attendance and relegation
Firstly, why the 'tin hat' mentality, HM, this aint MM, you're not gunna get slagged for having an opinion on here, it's different.
Secondly, i think the least that the management team deserve is to have a go at this, they've deserved that shot, havent they?
We've had just about unparralleled success over the last few years, and now things are a bit sticky fans are turning on that same management team that's got us here. Thye might be out of their depth, they showed they wernt last season, but at the very least deserve some loyalty from us, surely.
I dont think last season is a fair comparison, with so many clubs imploding before xmas. The worst, and they were bad went down, we by the skin of our teeth just finished above them, its as much as how bad they were as down to our own 'success'. I firmly believe if we'd not found Lafferty Hunt and Martinez we'd have gone down instead of Millwall.
On the evidence and bare facts, we have done quantity again, and on the pitch nothing has been learned, we're stubborn to change and the players brought in clearly don't fit the ethos. There's so much wrong how much are we prepared to accept? The Fulham game was horrendous instead of sorting ourselves internally it seems the answer is loan players. Different players same issues, same outcome, that in itself tells you where the problems lie.

No they don't! Because of SE & PR we have become something of a joke, mainly because of their touchline antics, but they are now making us a joke because of their god awful tactics.
We need a change of direction because hoofball doesn't work in the Championship. IMO even if we sack the management team soon, it will be too late to save this season as we cannot change the playing personnel before January at the earliest & by that time, Evans' awful recruitment will have all but relegated us.
What we need now is a management who likes to play open, attractive football which will eventually put bums on seats, even if it is in L1!

Finally - some sense. Great post Millmoormagic. UTM.

firstly thanks i wont have the tin mentality i must admit its more cordial on here
I am a loyal miller and i gave him the chance last season and he kept us up but its the same old
yes we have a small budget and our past success was from getting players from the division above us which we cant now replicate
but they are also not learning from their mistakes of the formation and tactics and team selection evans need to channel his emotion into a more logical and methodical approach remove himself from the touchline
be the general not the sergeant major
learn from history military leaders who broke the mold
just because most of the league are playing 4 5 1 or 4 2 3 1 doesnt mean we should
try a radical new approach by playing the 3 5 2 attacking formation against cardiff as it will throw them as they will be expecting 4 4 2 or 4 5 1 at least you can say you tried
because im puzzled what you are learning at these coaching courses
it is obvious that we need two up front with jch been one of them
yes jch has scored both times we have done it away and we lost both 2 1
Well HM you make some valid points, particularly about tactics.
I am of a slightly different opinion than most in that it's the CLUB that has reached it's level, not the manager.
Me personally I believe that 4-5-1 at home or away is like playing Russian Roulette where you have bullets in your gun and they have 1. You can still win but it's very unlikely.
On changing management - I feel that this is irrelevant as not anyone on the planet could make us successful in the championship on a regular and sustained basis. It comes down to simple maths. The others have more resources therefore they have more chance of getting the better players.
We have to develop a sustained productive youth policy in order to compete. Young Jamie Yates steeped up to the plate but now is ignored.

Agreed Heman, Championship survival is the ultimate achievement we as a club could attain, but surely another face at the helm trying to play decent football is preferable to the utter tosh we've been witnessing for the last season & a bit
There are plenty of ordinary teams in the Championship and it is quite possible that we could finish above three of them. We won't though unless we change what we are doing. After about 15 games last year this same manager - to be fair to him and I am not his biggest fan - recognised that we couldn't compete in the league without keeping the ball better. At times we managed it and we did just about enough. He had something to build on but seems to have reverted to type and we have gone backwards. A ridiculous player turnover, defending too deep and giving the ball away cheaply. Either SE needs to change or we need to change him. That's how I see it. And in saying that I am trying to overlook the ridiculously biased assessments of games and the touchline antics which are frankly embarrassing.
After my post a few minutes ago I looked at the official club site and read the comments of the manager post-Brighton. I am shaking my head in disbelief and my opinion has hardened. I had thought he might deserve some time to change things but I now think that this is a forlorn hope. He talks about the teams cancelling each other out, and us changing our shape and getting on the ball more. No, no, no! We were outclassed by a team who could move the ball at pace on the deck. At times we chased shadows. On another day Brighton could have got 5 or 6. All neutral reports refer to it as a routine win for Brighton at a canter. It reminds me of the many occasions when I have heard people laugh out loud when SE has come on the radio after thousands of people have seen us outplayed and yet he has spoken about us battering the opposition. This fools no-one. He either takes us for idiots or he is completely deluded. I am now totally fed up of it.

I would disagree with you on this one Brad, I think the personnel we have at the moment is good enough to do the job, but Eddie Yates fails to play to their strengths, quite the opposite it seems.
I think promotion to the Championship took everyone by surprise, it seems the club wasn't up to it. Its my suspicion TS didnt quite have all the jigsaw pieces in place, but once we were up there, we were up there with the big boys, which is why its my view it was all more by accident than design and there was/is panic in certain quarters.
I would agree with you on your last sentence though, the guy seems unable to try something different, so I think the time has come to try a different guy.
As someone on this thread has already put, you cant live on past glory
