The only explanation for TS sticking by SE in the way he has so far, is an admission that he believes no one else could do any better with the resources we are prepared to throw at this season. To me he is saying " I would rather be relegated than sack SE and give another manager a chance". If you recall the start to last season, Fulham and others had a terrible start, they changed their manager and got the reaction a change at the top often generates. And they eventually stayed up. Blackpool on the other hand stuck by their manager in what feels like the same approach as TS to SE, and they went down. This is me indicates a lack of future funding availability, or ambition, or too much loyalty between our chairman and SE. I would rather let another man have a go, and go down having really tried, rather than watch this tripe currently on offer, which has to be as much down to Evans as the quality of the players. STOP THIS NONSENSE and give someone else enough games to get us out of this mess!
Could also be the reality of the championship has shocked them, and that 4yrs doing well but not promoted from L1 will have a better impact in securing off field business that we all know about than struggling year on year in the Championship? Perhaps TS has conceded that we are actually just not ready as a business to be in the same company, pretty much like the corner shop and Tesco.
We must go down fighting though, if we roll over that will do untold damage. If relegation is the probability then lets plan now so we're ready to jump on and especially off the field
If TS buys into the approach of living hand to mouth on players, owning a squad of average to mediocre players and supplementing them with with loans (which is a legitimate way of operating on a budget), then he has the best man in post. If he believed the statements about quality and top half challenges and the like, then he's probably very cross right now.
Heman is spot on with his very simple but very very relevant observation ie with the resources available then we cannot compete whatever the formula.
Criticism of Evans is very unfair as the playing field is so unequal from a money perspective.
TS seems to be digging in re retaining club ownership( his prerogative ) and clearly is not interested in outside investment....so where do we go from here?...L1 seems likely!
Agree Heman. 1 - Steve Evans is the man for that - weve seen that in seasons gone by, the fighting spirit and determination to the very end of 90+ minutes.
We havent seen that yet, but its very much a new aquad of players and you can see that gradually coming into the team. We will be fine. In Evans we trust.
As for Trickys post - Who you suggest? Who out there is better than SE who hasnt already been sacked / lost their job?

The issue here though Chris is why have we had such a poor start. We have to be balanced. He picked the players and they have started very badly. Was this by design! Obviously not. So, he has gambled and the wheel is still spinning . Thus far he has made a significant loss but this is not a game if chance it's about knowledge and application.
Knowlwdge; Roos was such a poor gamble and couldn't possibly have been based on knowledge. Such a key position this one and though I am an SE fan , I was stunned by this choice from the very beginning. To me ot absolutely beggars belief.
I don't blame him for losing Morgs, pringle and arnie , there is no evidence he could have done anything differently.
He clearly persisted with Halford far too long and was way behind the objective view of most supporters. Experimenting with players in odd positions has not paid off once. Black has been a disaster thus far.
However, there have been indications that this is a better team than we started with last season, but neither the performances overall, or the results back it up. At some point, like Rodgers at Liverpool , who has had 4 seasons and 300 million to produce a better team , you have to say it's been a failure. Only an avoidance of the facts and unwillingness to make a decision stops a change taking place. Right now SE is failing badly. I still think he can significantly improve things but he has only a few more games left to do that.
I'm all for loyalty and a longer term project but Rodgers hadn't produced and Wenger hasn't produced. They are all way below expectations and SE is way below his usual standard too.
I agree Ian that our start has been poor ans we are well below expectations.
For me personally, after the success he has brought to this football club (3 seasons in a row) i think the VERY least we should do is back him and give him time for his new squad to grow and get into the mould of seasons prior.
How much time specifically remains the question. We need to pick up 3 points and fast, and i firmly believe this Saturday is the day that happens, which (if Wendy lose) puts us on the same points as them = 5.
I disagree that he "has only a few more games" - i think he has plenty.
I think that this Saturday will see a turning point in our season. We have just played two very good teams away and got a point. Saturday is about winning. I missed the last 2 home games with a bad back but wild horses are not going to keep me away this weekend to see our first win of the season. I think Mr Evans has finally found the ingredients mixed in the right way and cooked at the right temperature to provide a Freckling goodwin.

Entirely agree with all you've said Exeter, but what baffles me is, given that your first paragraph is true, where does that leave the club as a "sporting" entity in L1? Because it suggests to me that not being ready, business wise, for the big step up, surely means that we will not be competitive in L1 in case we do get promoted again. We can only be competitive in order to avoid relegation to L2.
So does that mean there will be no sport, or combative spirit from the payers because their remit would be, "dont do too much to win, but just enough not to lose" resulting in a bland predictable kick about. (Do we have this already?). If the on field process is to 'tread water' until the club as a business is ready then you lose the urgency, excitement and the sporting aspect of almost every game of the season and leaves ourselves open to the accusation that games may be 'thrown' in order to stay put.
Or even more frightening, do you get rid of your better players, replace them with journeymen and loanees that will ensure promotion is a non starter to begin with (do we have that already?)
I completely agree that the business aspect is vital in the modern game and has to be a priority, but how do we balance that against the purpose/aim of the on field game, which is to win.
