To try & lift the gloom......top 5 Millers heros in your lifetime?

Dave Gwyther

Gerry Forrest

Tony Towner

Ronnie Moore

Alex Revell

No surprise that three of mine came from the 1980/81 Third Division Champions side, collectively THE best Millers team in my lifetime, Gwyther, an old fashioned up & at em centre forward during my teenage years, & Revs for his workrate, the fact that he's such a nice fella, but most of all providing me with the finest moment of my Millers supporting life.....that goal!!!!!

John Seasman - the player I would have loved to be. Gerry Forrest - pure class Alex Revell - for the reasons already given by Brad Tony Towner - electrifying Alan Lee - a bit like Revell. Not the most talented but never gave less than his best

Recently I admired Arni as a gifted player who was playing way below his standard but always thought he was just doing his job rather than being 'ours'.

On his day he was terrific, used to play with his socks pulled down like Steve Claridge.

At the end of the match he used to come off covered in bruises where the full-back tried to kick him all over the pitch.

On a bad day he was pants but that`s footballers for you, if they were exceptional every game they would be playing in the Champions League and not at RUFC.

Tiger was also well thought of at Millwall.

Like to think we saw the best of Tony when we had him at our club, never did too much when he left.

John Seasman came at the same time what a bargain they were.

Happy Days.

Right about that Tiger, the most exciting player ever to pull on a Millers shirt in my time. My old dad used to liken him to Jimmy Rudd from the early 50's, but that was before my time. Derek Dougan used to say "If theres a better outside right in British football today, I've yet to see him" Seasman was in my opinion sublime class.

My top five would be

Frank Casper

Dave Watson

Dave Gwyther

Rod Fern

John Seasman (just over Towner)

Tried to pick a spine here.

Pollit
Macintosh
Goodwin
Talbot
Williamson

A reflection on the erosion of football nobody choosing hardly anyone from the last 5-10 years?

Or maybe just nostalgia Exeter? Perhaps as time goes by we forget that even our heroes of yesteryear had the occasional shocker too!

Just a note about tiger. When he came back last season from his furniture removal buissness here couldn't believe the reception, he actually thought no one would remember him. Speaks volumes.

I don't feel "heroes" is appropriate to anyone in football.  That said all my picks are from an era when I was less cynical and more emotionally involved with the club and football.

Trevor Swift

Danny Williams.

John Quinn

Steve Downes

Dave Watson
